Beschreibung:
The gene encoding the mouse alloantigen, Ly-6C, maps to chromosome 15 and encodes a 131 amino acid protein that belongs to the Ly-6 family of glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol (GPI)-linked proteins. Ly-6 family members share amino acid homology throughout a distinctive cysteine rich protein domain that incorporates O-linked carbohydrates. Murine Ly-6 molecules have unique patterns of tissue expression during hematopoiesis from multipotential stem cells to lineage committed precursor cells, and on specific leukocyte subpopulations in the peripheral lymphoid tissues. Ly-6C is predominantly expressed on murine peripheral CD8 T cells. Ly-6C is involved in endothelial adhesion, the killing of target cells by CTLs, inducing TCR-mediated activation of IL-2 and IFNs production in CD8 T cells and the homing of CD8 T cells. In addition, Ly-6C may act as a Signalling molecule of LFA-1 activation.

Using a positional cloning strategy in 197 Vietnamese leprosy simplex families (i.e. families with two unaffected parents and one affected child), significant connections between leprosy and 17 markers in the 5' regulatory region that PARK2 and PACRG share were observed. Possession of two or more of the 17 risk alleles is highly predictive of leprosy.PACRG is a gene located very close to parkin, in reverse orientation on the chromosome. It is thought to be co-transcribed with parkin by a bi-directional promoter between the two genes.

Cellular receptors for blood proteases regulate chemotaxis, extracellular proteolysis, and growth behavior of normal and malignant cells. Effector cell protease receptor-1 (EPR1) is a receptor for the coagulation protease factor Xa. EPR1 is characterized by a cysteine-rich extracellular module, a single membrane-spanning domain, and a serine-rich cytoplasmic tail featuring at least 15 potential phosphorylation sites. EPR1 also contains 2 N-linked glycosylation sites, 4 O-linked glycosylation sites, and a chondroitin sulfate attachment site, which may provide anchoring for carbohydrate chains, EPR1 transfectants bind to factor Xa in a specific and saturable manner, and in the absence of factor V/Va promote prothrombin activation in a factor Xa concentration-dependent reaction. Activated platelets and megakaryocytes express EPR1. Both EPR1 and membrane-bound factor Va are thought to be required to mediate factor Xa binding to the activated platelet to form a functional prothrombinase complex.
