Glutathione is the major low molecular weight thiol compound of the living plant or animal cell. It is a tripeptide with a gamma peptide linkage between the amine group of cysteine (which is attached by normal peptide linkage to a glycine) and the carboxyl group of the glutamate side-chain. It is an antioxidant, preventing damage to important cellular components caused by reactive oxygen species such as free radicals and peroxides. The sulfhydryl (thiol) group (SH) of cysteine serves as a proton donor and is responsible for the biological activity of glutathione. Glutathione suppresses human immunodeficiency virus expression in chronically infected monocytic cells. It is a useful tripeptide involved in many aspects of metabolism, including transport of g-glutanyl amino acids and reductive cleavage of disulfide bonds. Endogenous antioxidant that plays a major role in reducing reactive oxygen species formed during cellular metabolism and the respiratory burst. Glutathione-S-transferase catalyzes the formation of glutathione thioethers with xenobiotics, leukotrienes, and other molecules that have an electrophilic center. Glutathione also forms disulfide bonds with cysteine residues in proteins. Via these mechanisms, it can have the paradoxical effect of reducing the efficacy of anti-cancer agents.

STAT1 alpha Antibody: STATs (signal transducers and activators of transcription) are a family of cytoplasmic latent transcription factors that are activated to regulate gene expression in response to a large number of extracellular signaling polypeptides including cytokines, interferons, and growth factors. After phosphorylation by JAK tyrosine kinases, STATs enter the nucleus to regulate transcription of many different genes. Among the seven STATs (Stat1, Stat2, Stat3, Stat4, Stat5a, Stat5b, and Stat6), Stat1, Stat3, Stat5a, and Stat5b have a wide activation profile. STAT1 is activated by many different ligands including IFN family (IFN-alpha , IFN- beta , IFN- gamma and IL-10), gp130 family (IL-6, IL-11, LIF, CNTF, and G-CSF), and receptor tyrosine kinases (EGF, PDGF, and CSF-1). STAT1 has two forms, the 91 kDa STAT1 alpha and the 84 kDa STAT1 beta which are encoded by the same gene with splicing variant.

FAM120A Antibody: FAM120A (C9orf10) is a member of the constitutive coactivator of PPAR gamma family and the gene was mapped to chromosome 9q22.31. FAM120A was recently detected within the Pur-alpha-containing mRNA-protein complex in the brain. As a novel RNA-binding protein, FAM120A is a critical component of the oxidative stress-induced survival signaling. It may participate in mRNA transport in the cytoplasm. FAM120A activates src family kinases and acts as a scaffolding protein enabling src family kinases to phosphorylate and activate PI3-kinase. FAM120A protects cells from apoptosis through activation of SRKs in response to oxidative stress. Blocking of the survival signaling mediated by FAM120A, which sensitizes the cancer cells to stress-induced apoptosis, may be a novel therapeutic approach for gastric scirrhous carcinoma cells.

ZIPK Antibody: Apoptosis is mediated by death domain containing adapter molecules and a caspase family of proteases. Certain serine/threonine protein kinases, such as ASK-1 and RIP, are mediators of apoptosis. A novel serine/threonine kinase that mediates apoptosis was recently identified and designated ZIP kinase. ZIP kinase contains an N-terminal kinase domain and a C-terminal leucine zipper structure and binds to ATF4 that is a member of ATF/CREB family. ZIP kinase has high sequence homology to DAP kinase (death-associated protein kinase), which is a mediator of apoptosis induced by gamma interferon. Overexpression of ZIP kinase induces apoptosis. ZIP and DAP kinases represent a novel kinase family, which mediates apoptosis through their catalytic activities. The messenger RNA was ubiquitously expressed in various tissues.

GPVI deficiency can result in bleeding disorders. Further study should reveal the extent of GPVI involvement in thrombotic disease and allow the development of alternative anti-thrombotic compounds.

The form expressed in the brain may be involved in a number of pathological conditions associated with glutamate excitotoxicity. The prostate form is up-regulated in cancerous cells and is used as an effective diagnostic and prognostic indicator of prostate cancer. This gene likely arose from a duplication event of a nearby chromosomal region.

MANF Antibody: MANF, also known as ARMET, was initially identified as a protein containing an arginine-rich region that was highly mutated in a variety of tumors. More recently it was identified as a mesencephalic astrocyte-derived neurotrophic factor with selectivity for dopaminergic neurons, similar to glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) and CDNF. In rat brain slices, MANF enhanced nigral gamma-aminobutyric acid release. Like GDNF and CDNF, MANF has selective neuroprotective activity for dopaminergic neurons suggesting that it may be indicated for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Expression of MANF has also been shown to be induced during ER stress, suggesting that it may play a role in protein quality control during ER stress.

Human and mouse IL7 share 65% sequence identity in the mature region and both exhibit cross-species activity. Programmed cell death protein 1(PDCD1) is a single-pass type I membrane protein and contains 1 Ig-like V-type domain. PD-1 is a member of the extended CD28/CTLA-4 family of T cell regulators.
