MP21 is a member of the EMP24/GP25L/p24 cargo family of proteins that regulates vesicular trafficking in the early secretory pathway. TMP21 is a ubiquitously expressed single-pass type I membrane protein localizing to the Golgi cisternae and the plasma membrane. It contains one GOLD (Golgi dynamics) domain and participates in protein transport and quality control between the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and the Golgi complex. In addition, TMP21 is a component of the heteromeric secretase complex (or Presenilin complex) and functions to regulate the ?secretase activity. Two isoforms, namely TMP21-I and TMP21-II, exist for this protein.

Significant expression of Dectin 2 has been reported on macrophages in the red pulp and marginal zones of the spleen, kupffer cells in the liver and alveolar macrophages in the lung. Peripheral blood monocytes express low levels of dectin 2 but transient up regulation of expression has been demonstrated on monocytes at sites of inflammation. The function of dectin 2 has not been fully determined but studies suggest a possible role in immune surveillance.

REG1 beta is a type I subclass member of the Reg gene family. The Reg gene family is a multigene family grouped into four subclasses, types I, II, III and IV based on the primary structures of the encoded proteins. REG1 beta highly similar to the REG1 alpha protein. The related REG1 alpha protein is associated with islet cell regeneration and diabetogenesis, and may be involved in pancreatic lithogenesis. Reg family members REG1 alpha, REGL, PAP and this gene are tandomly clustered on chromosome 2p12 and may have arisen from the same ancestral gene by gene duplication.

This MAb recognizes all simple epithelia including glandular epithelium, for example thyroid, female breast, gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract, and urogenital tract including transitional epithelium. All adenocarcinomas and most squamous carcinomas are positive but keratinizing squamous carcinomas are usually negative. This antibody is useful in demonstrating the presence of Paget cells; there is very little keratin 18 in the normal epidermis so only Paget cells are stained.

The new amino terminus functions as a tethered ligand and activates the receptor. The F2RL1 gene contains two exons and is widely expressed in human tissues.
