KRT82 is a member of the keratin gene family. As a type II hair keratin, it is a basic protein which heterodimerizes with type I keratins to form hair and nails. The type II hair keratins are clustered in a region of chromosome 12q13 and are grouped into two distinct subfamilies based on structure similarity. One subfamily, consisting of KRTHB1, KRTHB3, and KRTHB6, is highly related. The other less-related subfamily includes KRTHB2, KRTHB4, and KRTHB5. All hair keratins are expressed in the hair follicle; this keratin appears to be a hair cuticle-specific keratin.

This gene encodes one of seven subunits of the human Arp2/3 protein complex. This complex controls actin polymerization in cells and has been conserved throughout eukaryotic evolution. This gene encodes the p20 subunit, which is necessary for actin nucleation and high-affinity binding to F-actin. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Naturally occurring read-through transcription exists between this gene and the downstream tubulin tyrosine ligase-like family, member 3 (TTLL3), which results in the production of a fusion protein. Fusions of immortal human cell lines with each other have led to their assignment to one of several complementation groups. SEN1 or MORF4 is a gene on chromosome 4 that induces a senescent-like phenotype in cell lines assigned to complementation group B. It is capable of reversing the immortal phenotype of a subset of immortal cells. Overexpression of SEN1 in HeLa cells ultimately caused abnormal nuclear morphology and cell death.

The synaptogyrin family of proteins are integral membrane proteins containing four transmembrane regions. Synaptogyrins are tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins with two neuronal (Synaptogyrins 1 and 3) and one ubiquitous (Synaptogyrin-2) isoform. Synaptophysin and synaptogyrin represent the major constituents of synaptic vesicles. Synaptogyrin-1 is associated with presynaptic vesicles in neuronal cells. Synaptogyrin-2, also known as Cellugyrin has a tyrosine phosphorylated C-terminal cytoplasmic tail, and is involved in the regulation of membrane traffic in non-neuronal cells. GIOT-1 is a 563 amino acid protein belonging to the Krüppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. Localized to the nucleus, GIOT-1 is widely expressed in tissues, with highest levels in liver, kidney, small intestine, pancreas and thymus. GIOT-1 contains 12 C2H2-type zinc fincers and one KRAB domain. Because the KRAB domain functions as a transcriptional repressor when attached to the template DNA, GIOT-1 is thought to be involved in transcriptional regulation. The gene encoding GIOT-1 is localized to chromosome 19q13.12 and two isoforms of GIOT-1 exist as a result of alternative splicing events.

P2Y11 is a multi-pass cell membrane protein that acts as a receptor for both ATP and ATD coupled to G proteins. Due to these interactions, P2Y11 is involved in phosphatidylinositol-calcium and adenylyl cyclase pathways. Induced by DMSO and retinoic acid, P2Y11 is highly expressed in spleen tissue. A putative trans-splicing event involving the gene that encodes P2Y11 and an upstream gene encoding PPAN has been found to result in a fusion protein, designated PPAN-P2RY11.
