CD6 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that contains a 24-amino acid signal sequence, three extracellular scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) domains, a membrane-spanning domain and a 44-amino acid cytoplasmic domain. The CD6 glycoprotein is tyrosine phosphorylated during TCR-mediated T cell activation. CD6 shows significant homology to CD5. CD6 is present on mature thymocytes, peripheral T cells and a subset of B cells. Antibodies to CD6 are used to deplete T cells from bone marrow transplants to prevent graft versus host disease.

Coagulation factor II (thrombin) receptor-like 1 (F2RL1) is a member of the large family of 7-transmembrane-region receptors that couple to guanosine-nucleotide-binding proteins. F2RL1 is also a member of the protease-activated receptor family. It is activated by trypsin, but not by thrombin. It is activated by proteolytic cleavage of its extracellular amino terminus. The new amino terminus functions as a tethered ligand and activates the receptor. The F2RL1 gene contains two exons and is widely expressed in human tissues. All the BAG proteins have an approximately 45-amino acid BAG domain near the C terminus but differ markedly in their N-terminal regions. The predicted BAG2 protein contains 211 amino acids. OLFM3 is a 478 amino acid protein that interacts with myocilin. Myocilin is an extracellular protein that plays a key role in the actomyosin system and is responsible for controlling intraocular pressure. OLFM3 is a secreted protein that contains an olfactomedin-like (OLF) domain, an approximately 260 amino acid motif commonly found in secreted glycoproteins. OLFM3 localizes to the Golgi apparatus of the cell and is highly expressed in both eye and brain tissue. Mutations in the gene that encodes OLFM3 may cause severe glaucoma, a condition in which increased intraocular pressure within the eyeball causes loss of eye sight.
