Dectin 2 is a type II transmembrane protein that is a member of the C type lectin superfamily. In mouse, dectin 2 is predominantly expressed on tissue macrophages and some dendritic cells. Significant expression of Dectin 2 has been reported on macrophages in the red pulp and marginal zones of the spleen, kupffer cells in the liver and alveolar macrophages in the lung. Peripheral blood monocytes express low levels of dectin 2 but transient up regulation of expression has been demonstrated on monocytes at sites of inflammation. The function of dectin 2 has not been fully determined but studies suggest a possible role in immune surveillance.

This MAb recognizes basic (Type II or HMW) cytokeratins, which include 67 kDa (CK1); 64 kDa (CK3); 59 kDa (CK4); 58 kDa (CK5); 56 kDa (CK6); 52 kDa (CK8). Twenty human keratins are resolved with two-dimensional gel electrophoresis into acidic (pI 6.0) subfamilies. The acidic keratins have molecular weights (MW) of 56.5, 55, 51, 50, 50 , 48, 46, 45, and 40 kDa. Many studies have shown the usefulness of keratins as markers in cancer research and tumor diagnosis.

Calpain 12 was first described in the mouse, most strongly in the skin, and maps to mouse chromosome 7. Isoforms differ in the carboxyterminal ends, ending with aberrant domain III and lacking domain IV. Domains in the large subunit include the amino terminal domain I, the proteinase domain II, domain III, and the EF hand domain IV, making Calpain 12 most similar to calpains 1 and 2.

TMP21 is a ubiquitously expressed single-pass type I membrane protein localizing to the Golgi cisternae and the plasma membrane. It contains one GOLD (Golgi dynamics) domain and participates in protein transport and quality control between the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and the Golgi complex. In addition, TMP21 is a component of the heteromeric secretase complex (or Presenilin complex) and functions to regulate the ?secretase activity. Two isoforms, namely TMP21-I and TMP21-II, exist for this protein.

Coagulation factor II (thrombin) receptor-like 1 (F2RL1) is a member of the large family of 7-transmembrane-region receptors that couple to guanosine-nucleotide-binding proteins. F2RL1 is also a member of the protease-activated receptor family. It is activated by trypsin, but not by thrombin. It is activated by proteolytic cleavage of its extracellular amino terminus. The new amino terminus functions as a tethered ligand and activates the receptor. The F2RL1 gene contains two exons and is widely expressed in human tissues. ETFA participates in catalyzing the initial step of the mitochondrial fatty acid beta-oxidation. It shuttles electrons between primary flavoprotein dehydrogenases and the membrane-bound electron transfer flavoprotein ubiquinone oxidoreductase. Defects in electron-transfer-flavoprotein have been implicated in type II glutaricaciduria in which multiple acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiencies result in large excretion of glutaric, lactic, ethylmalonic, butyric, isobutyric, 2-methyl-butyric, and isovaleric acids. LIN-28 is a highly conserved, RNA-binding, cytoplasmic protein. It consists of a cold shock domain and retroviral-type (CCHC) zinc finger motifs that were first identified in Caenorhabditis elegans. LIN-28 controls the timing of events during embryonic development and is readily expressed in embryos, embryonic stem cells and embryonal carcinoma cells. The presence of LIN-28 persists in some adult tissues including cardiac and skeletal muscle. In differentiating myoblasts, LIN-28 increases protein synthesis efficiency and binds to the growth and differentiation factor IGF-II.
