Cytokeratin 8 (CK8) belongs to the type II (or B or basic) subfamily of high molecular weight cytokeratins and exists in combination with cytokeratin 18 (CK18). This MAb cocktail recognizes all simple epithelia including glandular epithelium, for example thyroid, female breast, gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract, and urogenital tract including transitional epithelium. All adenocarcinomas and most squamous carcinomas are positive but keratinizing squamous carcinomas are usually negative. This antibody is useful in demonstrating the presence of Paget cells; there is very little keratin 18 in the normal epidermis so only Paget cells are stained.Immuno-histochemical staining with this MAb is indistinguishable from that obtained with monoclonal antibody 5D3.

The 11B11 antibody binds to mouse Interleukin-4 (IL-4), a 14 kDa cytokine that is largely secreted by activated T cells of the Th2 subset, and to some degree by NKT and mast cells. This cytokine acts as a stimulatory factor for B cells, inducing their proliferation and differentiation, as well as playing a role in immunoglobulin class-switching. IL-4 may also provide autocrine stimulation for T cells, and affect the function of antigen presenting cells such as macrophages and dendritic cells. IL-4 can bind and signal via three cell surface receptor types: CD124 by itself, CD124 in combination with the common gamma chain (type I complex), or CD124 combined with CD213a1 (type II complex).

Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome (VHL) is a dominantly inherited familial cancer syndrome predisposing to a variety of malignant and benign tumors. A germline mutation of this gene is the basis of familial inheritance of VHL syndrome. The protein encoded by this gene is a component of the protein complex that includes elongin B, elongin C, and cullin-2, and possesses ubiquitin ligase E3 activity. This protein is involved in the ubiquitination and degradation of hypoxia-inducible-factor (HIF), which is a transcription factor that plays a central role in the regulation of gene expression by oxygen. RNA polymerase II subunit POLR2G/RPB7 is also reported to be a target of this protein. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been observed. [provided by RefSeq].

DPP6 is a Type-II serine proteinase of the clan SC. The clan SC proteinases have a catalytic triad of Ser-Asp-His, and like other Serine proteinases, the active site serine is in a Gly-Xaa-Ser-Xaa -Gly orientation. DPP6 has an Asp instead of Ser in the catalytic site. DPP6 is a member of a broader family of dipeptidyl peptidases including DPP4, FAP/Seprase, DPP2, DPP8, DPP9, DPP10, which have differing substrate specificity and tissue localizations. The surface-bound DPP6 is a homodimer, and cleavage of in the stalk region releases a shed form of DPP6. The shed is the form found in serum. DPP6 has been found in highest abundance in the brain, but also in the kidney, liver and lung.

AADACL4 is a 407 amino acid single-pass type II membrane protein belonging to the 'GDXG' lipolytic enzyme family. Integral to the cell membrane, AADACL4 participates in carboxylesterase and hydrolase activities and is encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 1p36.22. Chromosome 1, the largest human chromosome, makes up 8% of the human genome and contains about 260 million base pairs, which encode 3,000 genes. Chromosome 1 houses a large number of disease-associated genes, including those that are involved in familial adenomatous polyposis, Stickler syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Gaucher disease, schizophrenia and Usher syndrome. Aberrations in chromosome 1 are found in a variety of cancers, including head and neck cancer, malignant melanoma and multiple myeloma.

Vascular wall-linked protein, or Vasculin, is primarily expressed in the arterial wall and in plasma. It is also differentially expressed in human atherogenesis. Alternative splicing of exon 3 of the Vasculin gene produces three variants. Vasculin binds to and activates the minimal self-sufficient promoter element (MSPE) of the mouse Ada gene promoter and binds to and partially suppresses the GC-rich promoter of the nonhomologous human TOP2A gene promoter. It acts as a nuclear factor that can form complexes with TATA-binding proteins, transcription factors TFIIB and TFIIF, RNA polymerase II and p300. The regulated expression of Vasculin in plaques suggests that it may be involved in atherogenesis, and its presence in plasma may implicate Vasculin as a marker for atherosclerosis.

The inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate receptor, IP3R, acts as an inositol triphosphate (IP3)-gated calcium release channel in a variety of cell types. Three IP3 receptor subtypes have been described and are designated IP3R-I, IP3R-II and IP3R-III. IP3R-I is the predominant IP3R subtype expressed in neuronal tissues and the central nervous system, but is also expressed at high levels in the liver.

The mouse monoclonal antibody recognizes CD1b, a 44 kDa type I glycoprotein associated with beta2-microglobulin. It is expressed on dendritic cells, Langerhans cells, thymocytes, and T acute lymphoblastic leukemia cells. The CD1 multigene family encodes five forms of the CD1 T-cell surface glycoprotein in human, designated CD1A, 1B, 1C, 1D and 1E. CD1, a type 1 membrane protein, has structural similarity to the MHC class I antigen and has been shown to present lipid antigens for recognition by T lymphocytes. Constitutive endocytosis of CD1B molecules and the differential sorting of MHC class II from lysosomes separate peptide- and lipid antigen-presenting molecules during dendritic cell maturation. CD1B is also expressed in interdigitating cells.

This gene encodes two of three subunit types of the membrane-bound enzyme N-acetylglucosamine-1-phosphotransferase, a heterohexameric complex composed of two alpha, two beta, and two gamma subunits. The encoded protein is proteolytically cleaved at the Lys928-Asp929 bond to yield mature alpha and beta polypeptides while the gamma subunits are the product of a distinct gene (GeneID 84572). In the Golgi apparatus, the heterohexameric complex catalyzes the first step in the synthesis of mannose 6-phosphate recognition markers on certain oligosaccharides of newly synthesized lysosomal enzymes. These recognition markers are essential for appropriate trafficking of lysosomal enzymes. Mutations in this gene have been associated with both mucolipidosis II and mucolipidosis IIIA.[provided by RefSeq, May 2010].
