The gene encoding the mouse alloantigen, Ly-6C, maps to chromosome 15 and encodes a 131 amino acid protein that belongs to the Ly-6 family of glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol (GPI)-linked proteins. Ly-6 family members share amino acid homology throughout a distinctive cysteine rich protein domain that incorporates O-linked carbohydrates. Murine Ly-6 molecules have unique patterns of tissue expression during hematopoiesis from multipotential stem cells to lineage committed precursor cells, and on specific leukocyte subpopulations in the peripheral lymphoid tissues. Ly-6C is predominantly expressed on murine peripheral CD8 T cells. Ly-6C is involved in endothelial adhesion, the killing of target cells by CTLs, inducing TCR-mediated activation of IL-2 and IFN-?production in CD8 T cells and the homing of CD8 T cells. In addition, Ly-6C may act as a signaling molecule of LFA-1 activation.

Semaphorins are a family of cell surface and secreted proteins that are conserved from insects to humans. Members of this family of proteins are approximately 750 amino acids in length (including signal sequences) and are defined by a conserved extracellular semaphorin domain of approximately 500 amino acids containing 14-16 cysteines, blocks of conserved sequences and no obvious repeats. The transmembrane semaphorins are characterised by an additional 80 amino acid transmembrane domain and an 80-110 amino acid cytoplasmic domain. Secreted and cell-bound semaphorins chemically attract and repel the growth of neural axons, guiding the development of intricate networks of neural tissue. SEMA4B (semaphorin-4B), also known as SemC or SEMAC, is an 832 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein that belongs to the semaphorin family and exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms. Containing one Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain, a PSI domain and a single sema domain, SEMA4B is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 15.

Effector cell protease receptor-1 (EPR1) is a receptor for the coagulation protease factor Xa. EPR1 is characterized by a cysteine-rich extracellular module, a single membrane-spanning domain, and a serine-rich cytoplasmic tail featuring at least 15 potential phosphorylation sites. EPR1 also contains 2 N-linked glycosylation sites, 4 O-linked glycosylation sites, and a chondroitin sulfate attachment site, which may provide anchoring for carbohydrate chains, EPR1 transfectants bind to factor Xa in a specific and saturable manner, and in the absence of factor V/Va promote prothrombin activation in a factor Xa concentration-dependent reaction. Activated platelets and megakaryocytes express EPR1. Both EPR1 and membrane-bound factor Va are thought to be required to mediate factor Xa binding to the activated platelet to form a functional prothrombinase complex.
