B- and T-Lymphocyte Attenuator (BTLA) is a single-pass type I membrane protein containing 1 Ig-like V-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain. BTLA expression is induced during activation of T cells, and BTLA remains expressed on Th1 cells but not Th2 cells. Like PD1 and CTLA4, BTLA interacts with a B7 homolog, B7H4. However, unlike PD-1 and CTLA-4, BTLA displays T-Cell inhibition via interaction with tumor necrosis family receptors (TNF-R), not just the B7 family of cell surface receptors. BTLA is a lymphocyte inhibitory receptor that inhibits lymphocytes during immune response. BTLA also is a ligand for tumor necrosis factor (receptor) superfamily, member 14 (TNFRSF14), also known as herpes virus entry mediator (HVEM). BTLA-HVEM complexes negatively regulate T-cell immune responses.

Seasonal H1N1 Hemagglutinin Monoclonal Antibody: Influenza A virus has one of sixteen possible Hemagglutinin (HA) surface proteins and one of nine possible Neuraminidase (NA) surface proteins. In early 2009, a novel H1N1 swine-origin influenza (S-OIV) A virus was identified in specimens obtained from patients in Mexico and the United States. The genetic make-up of this swine flu virus is unlike any other: it is an H1N1 strain that combines a triple assortment first identified in 1998 including human, swine, and avian influenza with two new pig H3N2 virus genes from Eurasia, themselves of recent human origin. This antibody is specific for the seasonal H1N1 influenza Hemagglutinin and will not recognize the corresponding Hemagglutinin sequence from the swine-origin H1N1 influenza (A/California/14/2009 (H1N1)).

The protein includes an N-terminal transcriptional activation domain and a C-terminal RNA-binding domain. These chimeric proteins usually consist of the N-terminal transcriptional activation domain of this protein fused to the C-terminal DNA-binding domain of the transcription factor protein. Mutations in this gene, specifically a t(11;22)(q24;q12) translocation, are known to cause Ewing sarcoma as well as neuroectodermal and various other tumors. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 1 and 14.

The Galectin family of proteins, with specificity for Nacetyllactosaminecontaining glycoproteins, consists of beta-galactoside binding lectins containing homologous carbohydrate recognition domains (CRDs). At least 14 mammalian galectins family members, which share structural similarities in their carbohydrate recognition domains (CRD), have been identified to date. Unlike the selectin family of proteins, the carbohydrate binding specificity of galectins is calcium-independent. A common function of galectins is to cross-link structures containing N-acetyl-lactosamine located at the cell surface and within the extracellular matrix. They also possess hemagglutination activity, which is attributable to their bivalent carbohydrate binding properties. Galectins are active both intracellularly and extracellularly. Although they are localized primarily in the cytoplasm and lack a classical signal peptide, galectins can also be secreted by one or more unidentified, non-classical, secretory pathways. They have diverse effects on many cellular functions including adhesion, migration, polarity, chemotaxis, proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation. Galectins may therefore play a key role in many pathological states, including autoimmune diseases, allergic reactions, inflammation, tumor cell metastasis, atherosclerosis, and diabetic complications. The galectins have been classified into the prototype galectins(1, 2, 5, 7, 10, 11, 13, 14), which contain one CRD and exist either as a monomer or a noncovalent homodimer. The chimera galectins(Galectin3) containing one CRD linked to a nonlectin domain, and the tandemrepeat Galectins(4, 6, 8, 9, 12) consisting of two CRDs joined by a linker peptide.Galectins lack a classical signal peptide and can be localized to the cytosolic compartments where they have intracellular functions. However, via one or more as yet unidentified nonclassical secretory pathways, galectins can also be secreted to function extracellularly. Individual members of the galectin family have different tissue distribution profiles and exhibit subtle differences in their carbohydrate-binding specificities. Each family member may preferentially bind to a unique subset of cell surface glycoproteins.

DISC1 Antibody: Disrupted in schizophrenia 1 (DISC1) is a candidate gene for susceptibility to schizophrenia. It was discovered through chromosomal analysis of a large Scottish family whose members exhibited schizophrenia and related psychiatric disorders. Through yeast two-hybrid screening, it was discovered that DISC1 interacts with many members of the centrosome and cytoskeletal system including MAP1A and Nudel. More recently, DISC1 has been found to regulate the transport of a complex containing Nudel, the lissencephaly-1 (LIS1) protein, and 14-3-3epsilon from neuronal cell bodies to the axons by the action of the microtubule-dependent directed motor protein kinesin-1, also known as KIF5A. Decreased expression of DISC1 in neurons caused an accelerated rate of neuronal integration, resulting in aberrant morphological development, suggesting that DISC1 plays a role in dendritic development and synapse formation. DISC1 has at least four known isoforms.
