Pumilio 2 is a sequence-specific RNA-binding protein that regulates translation and mRNA stability by binding mRNA targets. It supports proliferation and self-renewal of stem cells by regulating the translation of key transcripts. The Pumilio gene encodes proteins that are required for development of germ stem cells in one or both sexes. The Pumilio protein interacts with the human Nanos1 protein and this interaction may play a conserved role in germ cell development. Pumilio 2 is highly expressed in testis and ovary and at lower levels in brain, heart, kidney, liver, muscle, placenta, intestine and stomach. It is also expressed in stem cells, germ cells and in most fetal tissues.

The protein encoded by this gene is a small cellular or pericellular matrix proteoglycan that is closely related in structure to two other small proteoglycans, decorin and fibromodulin. The encoded protein and decorin are thought to be the result of a gene duplication. Decorin contains one attached glycosaminoglycan chain, while this protein probably contains two chains. For this reason, this protein is called biglycan. This protein plays a role in assembly of collagen fibrils and muscle regeneration. It interacts with several proteins involved in muscular dystrophy, including alpha-dystroglycan, alpha- and gamma-sarcoglycan and collagen VI, and it is critical for the assembly of the dystrophin-associated protein complex. Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are thought to be important for the reorganization of the Golgi after it fragments during mitosis. This gene encodes one of the golgins, a family of proteins localized to the Golgi. This protein is a coiled-coil membrane protein that has been postulated to play a role in vesicle tethering and docking. RecQ helicases are implicated in DNA recombination and repair helicases and are critical in genome maintenance. RecQL5 is one of five known RecQ homologues in humans, and defects in three of these (BLM, WRN and RecQ4)are associated with autosomal recessive disorders that involve genomic instability and a predisposition to cancer. The exact role of ReqL5 is unclear. It has been shown in mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells that mutations in the Recql5 genes result in a significant increase in the frequency of sister chromatid exchange (SCE), whereas deleting Recql5 lead to an even higher frequency of SCE. There are three different RecQL5 isoforms - alpha, beta and gamma, produced by alternative splicing.

TESK2 is a nuclear protein that belongs to the protein kinase superfamily and is expressed in testis and prostate. Functioning as a dual-specificity protein kinase, TESK2 catalyzes the ATP-dependent phosphorylation of substrates and autophosphorylation on tyrosine and serine/threonine residues, thereby mediating intracellular signal transduction pathways. TESK2 requires magnesium as a cofactor and its catalytic activity is thought to play an important role in meiotic events such as spermatogenesis. TESK2 contains one protein kinase domain that is 65% identical to the kinase domain found in TESK1 (testicular protein kinase 1), suggesting a similar role for these proteins in phosphorylation events. Three isoforms of TESK2 are expressed due to alternative splicing.

This gene is a proto-oncogene that encodes a RING finger E3 ubiquitin ligase. The encoded protein is one of the enzymes required for targeting substrates for degradation by the proteasome. This protein mediates the transfer of ubiquitin from ubiquitin conjugating enzymes (E2) to specific substrates. This protein also contains an N-terminal phosphotyrosine binding domain that allows it to interact with numerous tyrosine-phosphorylated substrates and target them for proteasome degradation. As such it functions as a negative regulator of many signal transduction pathways. This gene has been found to be mutated or translocated in many cancers including acute myeloid leukaemia. CRTAC1 is expressed as three isoforms produced by alternative splicing events. All isoforms are expressed in bone, cartilage and lung, while isoforms 1 and 2 are expressed in the brain. The gene that encodes CRTAC1 maps to human chromosome 10, which contains over 800 genes and 135 million nucleotides, making up nearly 4.5% of the human genome.

Defects in the gene encoding TMPRSS5 are associated with deafness.

The F(ab)₂ Fragmentation kits are designed for the generation and isolation of F(ab)₂ fragments from IgG molecules. The kit utilises Immobilised Pepsin resin. Pepsin is a proteolytic enzyme that is routinely used for the generation of F(ab)₂ fragments from immunoglobulin G (IgG). One or more of the disulfide bonds that join the heavy chains in the hinge region are preserved, so the two Fab regions of the antibody remain joined together, yielding a divalent molecule (containing two antibody binding sites), hence the designation F(ab)₂. The light chains remain intact and attached to the heavy chain, whereas the Fc fragment is digested into small peptides. The Immobilised Pepsin offers the distinct advantage of eliminating enzyme contamination of the F(ab)₂ fragments.
