Nuclear hormone receptor. Binds estrogens with an affinity similar to that of ESR1, and activates expression of reporter genes containing estrogen response elements (ERE) in an estrogen-dependent manner. Isoform beta-cx lacks ligand binding ability and has no or only very low ere binding activity resulting in the loss of ligand-dependent transactivation ability. DNA-binding by ESR1 and ESR2 is rapidly lost at 37 degrees Celsius in the absence of ligand while in the presence of 17 beta-estradiol and 4-hydroxy-tamoxifen loss in DNA-binding at elevated temperature is more gradual.

LCA recognizes sequences containing α-linked mannose residues but recognizes additional sugars as part of the receptor structure, giving it a narrower specificity than Con A. An α-linked fucose residue attached to the N-acetylchitobiose portion of the core oligosaccharide markedly enhances affinity. LCA has been found to be one of the most effective agents in preventing skin allograft rejection in model systems. LCA has been used to purify numerous glycoproteins, including immunoglobulins, histocompatibility antigens, and α2-macroglobulin.

CD300C , also known as CLM-6 (CMRF35-like molecule 6), is a 224 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein that is present on the surface of neutrophils, monocytes and a select proportion of peripheral blood B and T lymphocytes. CD300C contains two potential N-gylcosylation sites, a potential O-glycosylated hinge-like region and an Ig-like V-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain that is very similar to the Fc receptor for polymeric IgA and IgM. The gene encoding CD300C is localized to a region on human chromosome 17 that harbors a susceptilibty locus for psoriasis, dermatitis and rheumatoid arthritis, suggesting a possible involvement of CD300C with these conditions.

It is a heteromeric complex consisting of 3 catalytic subunits encoded by mitochondrial genes and multiple structural subunits encoded by nuclear genes. The mitochondrially-encoded subunits function in electron transfer, and the nuclear-encoded subunits may be involved in the regulation and assembly of the complex. This nuclear gene encodes subunit VIb. Mutations in this gene are associated with severe infantile encephalomyopathy. Three pseudogenes COX6BP-1, COX6BP-2 and COX6BP-3 have been found on chromosomes 7, 17 and 22q13.1-13.2, respectively. [provided by RefSeq].

The Sarco(endo)plasmic-reticulum (SER) regulatory protein, Phospholamban (PLB), is a small, plasma membrane-associated protein found in the SER of cardiac, smooth and slow-twitch muscle. Believed to assemble into a pentamer, PLB regulates cardiac contractility and Ca2+ affinity for cardiac SER Ca2+ ATPase (SERCA2a). Non-phosphorylated PLB associates with SERCA2a, and inhibits Ca2+ reuptake into the SER. PLB activation occurs when key Serine/Threonine residues in PLB (Ser-10, Ser-16, Thr-17) are phosphorylated by numerous effectors, which include PKC, PKA, PKG, and CaM kinase. Phosphorylation of PLB causes dissociation from SERCA2a and a subsequent increase in the rate of Ca2+ reuptake into the SER, which accelerates ventricular relaxation.
