Proteinase K is a highly active stable endopeptidase with a broad spectrum of action was isolated by E. Merk's Darmstadt Biochemical Research Department in 1970 from a culture filtrate of the fungus, Tritirachium album Limber. This fungus is able to grow on Keratin (e.g., wool, horn particles) as the sole source of carbon and nitrogen. The isolated protease was, therefore, given the K designation.
Proteinase K is a stable and highly reactive serine protease. Evidence from crystal and molecular structure studies indicates the enzyme belongs to the subtilisin family with an active-site catalytic triad (Asp39-His69-Ser224). It is stable in a broad range of environments: pH, buffer salts, detergents (SDS), and temperature. In the presence of 0,1 to 0,5% SDS, proteinase K retains activity and will digest a variety of proteins and nucleases in DNA preparations without compromising the integrity of the isolated DNA.

Fatty acid-binding protein 6 (FABP6), is also known as Intestinal bile acid-binding protein (I-BABP), Ileal lipid-binding protein (ILBP), Intestinal 15 kDa protein (I-15P), Gastrotropin (GT). FABP6 is a cytoplasm protein which belongs to the calycin superfamily and fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family. Isoform 2 of FABP6 is expressed in colorectal adenocarcinomas and their adjacent normal mucosa (at protein level). Isoform 1 of FABP6 is expressed in the jejunum, ileum, cecum and ascending colon intestine. Ileal protein FABP6 stimulates gastric acid and pepsinogen secretion. FABP6 seems to be able to bind to bile salts and bilirubins. Isoform 2 of FABP6 is essential for the survival of colon cancer cells to bile acid-induced apoptosis.

2,2-Azino-bis-(3-ethyl-benzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) has been used as a chromogenic substrate for horseradish peroxidase (HRP), both in general activity assays and in ELISA applications. Activity of HRP using ABTS appears about four-fold higher than using pyrogallol. It is mainly used as a substrate in sensitive peroxidase assays.
2,2′-Azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) is a peroxidase substrate suitable for use in ELISA procedures. This substrate produces a soluble end product that is green in color and can be read spectrophotometrically at 405 nm. The reaction may be stopped with 1% sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). Recommended for ELISA (microwell) procedures, not recommended for membrane applications.

Ion exchange chromatography is used to separate charged molecules from complex biological samples. The charged molecules bind to a solid support carrying an opposite charge to the molecule. SIK2 Antibody: Salt-inducible kinase 2 (SIK2), like its closely related homolog SIK1, belongs AMPK subfamily of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family and negatively regulates CRE-binding protein (CREB) activity by phosphorylating the CREB-specific coactivator transducer of regulated CREB activity (TORC). SIK2 is thought to be part of a signaling cascade that regulates the expression and activity of the insulin-induced genes PGC-1 alpha and UCP-1 in brown adipocytes, impairment of which has been implicated in obesity and insulin resistance in human and animal models. SIK2 has also been reported as a key regulator for neuronal survival after ischemia, suppressing CREB-mediated gene expression after oxygen-glucose deprivation.
