By immunohistochemistry, this melanoma gp100 antibody specifically recognises a protein in melanocytes and melanomas. It reacts with junctional and blue nevus cells and variably with fetal and neonatal melanocytes. Intradermal nevi, normal adult melanocytes, and non-melanocytic cells are negative. It does not stain tumor cells of epithelial, lymphoid, glial, or mesenchymal origin. The melanoma antibody labels formalin/paraffin melanomas and other tumors showing melanocytic differentiation.

This protein is an E3 ubiquintin ligase that is localized in Lewy bodies (LBs), a characteristic neuronal inclusion in Parkinson's disease (PD) brains. This protein interacts with UBE2L3/UBCH7 and UBE2E2/UBCH8, but not other ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes. CARMA2 Antibody: CARMA proteins belong to the membrane-associated guan-ylate kinase-like (MAGUK) family of proteins that can function as molecular scaffolds that assist assembly of signal transduction molecules. CARMA1, CARMA2, and CARMA3 share high degrees of sequence and functional homology, but their tissue-specific distribution suggests that they serve distinct biological functions in different cell types. As with CARMA1, the CARD domain of CARMA2 has been shown to specifically interact with BCL10, a protein known to function as a positive regulator of cell apoptosis and NF-kappa B activation. When expressed in cells, this protein activated NF-kappa B and induced the phosphorylation of BCL10 Alternative splicing of CARMA2 results in isoforms that possess differential effects on NF-kappa B activation and endoplasmic reticulum stress-induced cell death.

It was also isolated from cDNA libraries of human T cell clones using the murine IL13 (P600) cDNA as a probe. Human IL13, a pleiotropic cytokine, is produced by activated Th0, Th1 like, Th2 like, and CD8 T cells. The gene for human IL13 maps to chromosome 5 and is closely linked to the genes for IL3, IL4, IL5, and GMCSF.
