Chemerin, also known as retinoic acid receptor responder 2 (RARRES2) and tazarotene induced gene 2 (TIG2), is a chemoattractant protein for cells expressing G-protein-linked receptor chemokine-like receptor 1 (CMKLR1, ChemR23 or GPCR-DEZ). The protein is synthesized as a secreted precursor, prochemerin (18 kDa), which is poorly active. GCDH is a 438 amino acid protein that localizes to the mitochondrial matrix and belongs to the acyl-CoA dehydrogenase family.
