ILVBL is a 632 amino acid single-pass membrane protein that belongs to the TPP enzyme family. Expressed in the majority of tissues, ILVBL has the highest level of expression in heart, pancreas and placenta. ILVBL is highly homologous to several bacterial enzymes, including the B isozyme of the large catalytic subunit of E. coli acetohydroxy-acid synthase (AHAS) and the oxalyl-coA decarboxylase of O. formigenes, that utilize thiamine pyrophosphate as a cofactor. ILVBL binds one magnesium ion and one thiamine pyrophosphate per subunit, and may catalyze the initial step in branched-chain amino acid biosynthesis. The gene encoding ILVBL maps to human chromosome 19p13.12 and mouse chromosome 10 C1.

OTUB1 is a 271 amino acid protein that contains one OTU (ovarian tumor) domain and belongs to the OTU family of predicted cysteine proteases. Expressed as two isoforms (one of which is present throughout the body and the other of which is present only in lymphoid tissues), OTUB1 functions as a hydrolase that can remove ubiquitin residues from target proteins, thereby preventing protein degradation and playing an important role in protein turnover. OTUB1 interacts with GRAIL and, via this interaction, plays a role in the regulation and the induction of T-cell anergy, a phenomenon that occurs when T-cells are rendered unresponsive to their cognate antigens. Due to its interaction with GRAIL, OTUB1 is an important regulator of immune responses in secondary lymphoid organs.

More specifically, BMAL2, when functioning as a component of the core oscillator, binds to the E-box element (3'-CACGTG-5') of target DNA, thus inducing transcription. Multiple isoforms of BMAL2 exist due to alternative splicing events.

ATPases contain two linked complexes: F1, the hydrophilic catalytic core; and F0, the membrane-embedded protein channel. F1 consists of three Alpha chains and three Beta chains, which are weakly homologous, as well as one Gamma chain, one Delta chain and one Gamma chain. F0 consists of three subunits: a, b and c. A mitochondrial F1-ATPase inhibitor protein, ATPIF1 (ATPase inhibitory factor 1), also known as IP, IF1, ATPI or ATPIP (ATPase inhibitor protein), binds to the C-terminal region of a Beta subunit of the F1-ATPase at low pH values and, via interference of the Beta and Gamma subunit interaction, ATPIF1 regulates the activity of the F1F0-ATPase. Clefts of the oral-facial region usually occur in early fetal development and can affect the lip, the soft palate (the soft tissue in the back of the mouth) and the hard palate (the roof of the mouth). Cleft lip (with or without cleft palate) is a genetically complex birth defect that occurs in approximately one in every 750-1,000 live births. This is one of the most common birth defects and is multifactorial, with both genetic and environmental causes. Cleft lip- and palate-associated transmembrane protein 1 (CLPTM1) belongs to a family of cleft lip and palate transmembrane proteins. This family also contains cisplatin resistance-related protein (CRR9), which is involved in CDDP-induced apoptosis. The CLPTM1 protein shows strong homology to two Caenorhabditis elegans genes.
