In contrast, only a single gene encodes the beta-galactoside alpha-2,6-sialyltransferase (EC 2.4.99.1), ST6GAL1 (MIM 109675) (Chang et al., 1995 [PubMed 7655169]).

Protein O-Linked-Mannose beta -1 2-N-Acetylglucosaminyltransferase 1 (POMGNT1) belongs to the Glycosyltransferase 13 family. Amino acid residues between 299-311 are important for both protein expression and enzymatic activity. The minimal catalytic domain is located between positions 299-651. It is suggested that the stem domain of the soluble form is unnecessary for activity, but that some amino acids play a crucial role in the membrane-bound form. Defects in POMGNT1 are the cause of muscular dystrophy-dystroglycanopathy congenital with brain and eye anomalies type A3 (MDDGA3).

Acyl-CoA thioesterases catalyze the hydrolysis of acyl-CoAs to the free fatty acid and coenzyme A (CoASH), providing the potential to regulate intracellular levels of acyl-CoAs, free fatty acids and CoASH. THEM2 is a cytoplasmic protein and exsis in a homotetramer. THEM2 has been identified as an interacting protein of phosphatidylcholine transfer protein. THEM2 also regulates hepatic lipid and glucose metabolism.

Preparation Method Produced from 3× crystallised chymotrypsinogen α-Chymotrypsin is used for treating pancreatic insufficiency and in traumatology. Chymotrypsin preferentially catalyses the hydrolysis of peptide bonds involving L-isomers of tyrosine, phenylalanine, and tryptophan. It also readily acts upon amides and esters of susceptible amino acids. In addition to bonds involving aromatic amino acids, chymotrypsin catalyses at a high rate the hydrolysis of bonds of leucyl, methionyl, asparaginyl, and glutamyl residues. a-Chymotrypsin is a protein consisting of 241 amino acid residues. The molecule has three peptide chains: an A chain of 13 residues, a B chain of 131 residues, and a C chain of 97 residues.

Tris have been useful as buffers in a wide variety of biological systems. It has been used as a starting material for polymers, oxazolones (with carboxylic acids) and oxazolidines (with aldehydes). It does not precipitate calcium salts and is of value in maintaining solubility of manganese salts. It can be used for the direct standardization of a strong acid solution; the equivalence point can be determined either potentiometrically or by use of a suitable indicator such as 3-(4-Dimethylamino-1-naphthylazo)-4-methoxybenzenesulfonic acid. It is RNAse and DNAse-free. Tris is relatively non-hygroscopic ; but, if needed, it can be dried at 100 °C for up to 4 hours to remove any water.
Tris is used in pH control in vitro and in vivo for body fluids and in buffering systems for electrophoresis applications.Tris is used in assays used to characterize the activity and kinetics of the enzymes that catalyze SUMOylation of Small ubiquitin-like proteins (SUMO) and SUMO-dependent protein-protein interactions.
