The BC96 monoclonal antibody specifically reacts with the 55 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein known as the interleukin-2 receptor alpha (IL-2R alpha, also known as CD25). CD25 is expressed by the early progenitors of T and B lymphocytes lineage, and by activated mature T and B lymphocytes. CD25 is a low affinity interleukin-2 receptor, but its association with the IL-2 receptor beta chain (CD122) and the common gamma chain (CD 132) results in a high affinity IL-2R complex. CD25 plays an important role in B and T cell proliferation, differentiation, and activation.

Bcl10, with an N-terminal caspase recruitment domain (CARD), is found in a number of apoptotic regulatory molecules. It was identified through its direct involvement in t(1;14) of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma. Expression of Bcl10 was shown to induce NF-kB activation in a NIK-dependent pathway. This mAb labels subpopulations of normal B and T cells and is a useful tool for the sub-classification of lymphomas. In MALT lymphomas with the t(1;14) translocation, while 55% of MALT lymphomas lacking this translocation exhibited the same labeling pattern, although at a much lower level.

Protocadherins are a large family of cadherin-like cell adhesion proteins that are involved in the establishment and maintenance of neuronal connections in the brain. There are three protocadherin (PCDH) gene clusters, designated alpha, beta and gamma, all of which contain multiple tandemly arranged genes. PCDHGA9 (Protocadherin gamma-A9) is a 932 amino acid that is one of 22 proteins encoded by the protocadherin gamma cluster. The protocadherein gamma cluster consists of three subfamilies (A, B and C) and PCDHGA9 is a member of the gamma subfamily A. PCDHGA9 is a type I transmembrane receptor containing six cadherin motifs and is expressed in the central nervous system where it localizes to synapses. Members of the gamma cluster of protocadherins are essential for neuronal survival. There are two isoforms of PCDHGA9 that are produced as a result of alternative splicing events.
