GSTZ1 is a member of the glutathione S transferase (GSTs) super family, encoding multifunctional enzymes important in the detoxification of electrophilic molecules, including carcinogens, mutagens, and several therapeutic drugs, by conjugation with glutathione. This enzyme also plays a significant role in the catabolism of phenylalanine and tyrosine. Several transcript variants of this gene encode multiple protein isoforms. GSTZ1 shows minimal glutathione-conjugating activity with ethacrynic acid and 7-chloro-4-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazole and maleylacetoacetate isomerase activity. It has low glutathione peroxidase activity with T butyl and cumene hydroperoxides and is able to catalyze the glutathione dependent oxygenation of dichloroacetic acid to glyoxylic acid. Highest expression in liver followed by kidney, skeletal muscle and brain. Also expressed in melanocytes, synovium, placenta, breast and fetal liver and heart.

NEEP21, also known as Brain neuron cytoplasmic protein 1, NSG1 (neuron-specific proteins family member 1), P21 or D4S234E, is a single pass type II membrane protein belonging to the NSG family. It is highly expressed during neuronal maturation but its expression is downregulated in adult tissues. NEEP21 predominantly localises to Rab 4-positive early endosomes in the somatodendritic neuronal compartment and is essential for proper receptor sorting and recycling in neurons. It associates with GRIP1 and GluR-2 and mediates the surface expression of GluR-2. When this interaction is interrupted, GluR-2 accumulates in early endosomes and leads to changes in evoked synaptic current properties. In addition, NEEP21 forms a complex with the SNARE protein, Syntaxin 13 (also known as Syntaxin 12), and participates in the recycling of transferrin receptors (TFRs) and NTR2 (neurotensin receptor 2).

This antibody labeling system uses nickel chelated agarose to temporarily immobilise antibody molecules via their histidine-rich Fc regions. Once held in place on the gel, the antibody can be biotinylated at either sulfhydryl groups (after mild reduction or disulfide bonds) or primary amines. Excess labeling reagent and by-products are then washed away before recovering the labeled and purified antibody from the gel using a mild imidazole solution. No gel filtration or dialysis are needed.

Expressed ubiquitously, RCBTB1 is thought to be involved in cell cycle regulation, specifically via chromatin remodeling. The gene encoding RCBTB1 maps to a region on human chromosome 13 that is frequently deleted in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia, suggesting a possible role for RCBTB1 in tumor suppression.

Wenn ein AnaeroGen-Beutel in ein versiegeltes Gefäß gegeben wird, wird der atmosphärische Sauerstoff im Gefäß schnell absorbiert, wobei gleichzeitig Kohlendioxid entsteht. Diese neuartige Methode unterscheidet sich von anderen häufig verwendeten Verfahren dadurch, dass die Reaktion ohne Wasserstoffentwicklung abläuft und daher kein Katalysator erforderlich ist. Darüber hinaus wird kein Wasser benötigt, um die Reaktion zu aktivieren. Bei bestimmungsgemäßer Verwendung reduziert der AnaeroGen-Beutel den Sauerstoffgehalt im Gefäß innerhalb von 30 Minuten auf unter 1%. Der resultierende Kohlendioxidgehalt liegt zwischen 9% und 13%.

KLHL13 (kelch like 13), also known as BKLHD2 (BTB and kelch domain containing protein 2), is a 604 amino acid protein that contains six Kelch repeats and one BTB/POZ domain. Expressed predominantly in brain, KLHL13 is believed to play a role in protein ubiquitination and may function as a substrate specific adapter of an E3 ubiquitin protein ligase complex. E3 ligases accept a ubiquitin residue from an E2 ubiquitin conjugating enzyme and immediately transfer that residue to a protein that is targeted for degradation. Specifically, KLHL13 interacts with KLHL9 and CUL3, a member of the cullin family of mediators that participate in the selective targeting of proteins for ubiquitin mediated proteolysis. Via its BTB and C terminal Kelch (BACK) motif, KLHL13 is thought to play a role in spatially orientating substrates in the CUL3 ligase.
