This antibody recognizes a ~90-95 kDa protein which is identified as cell surface transferrin receptor (CD71), a disulfide-bonded homodimeric glycoprotein of 180-190 kDa (Workshop IV). This MAb is highly specific to CD71 and shows no cross-reaction with other related proteins. Ligand for transferrin receptor is the serum iron transport protein, transferrin. This receptor is broadly distributed in carcinomas, sarcomas, leukemias, and lymphomas. CD71/Transferrin receptor has been reported to be associated with cell proliferation in both normal and neoplastic tissues and useful in predicting clinical behavior or response to therapy in a number of malignancies including breast cancer.

There are multiple isoforms of VEGF containing 206-, 189-, 165-, and 121-amino acid residues. The smaller two isoforms, VEGF165 and VEGF121, are secreted proteins and act as diffusible agents, whereas the larger two remain cell associated. VEGF/VPF plays an important role in angiogenesis, which promotes tumor progression and metastasis.

G protein-coupled receptors (GPRs) are a protein family of transmembrane receptors that transmit an extracellular signal (ligand binding) into an intracellular signal (G protein activation). GPR signaling is an evolutionarily ancient mechanism used by all eukaryotes to sense environmental stimuli and mediate cell-cell communication. GPRs all have seven membrane-spanning domains and extracellular loops that can be glycosylated. These extracellular loops also contain two highly conserved cysteine residues which create disulfide bonds to stabilize the receptor structure. SREB1 (super conserved receptor expressed in brain 1), also known as GPR27 (G protein-coupled receptor 27), belongs to the SREB subfamily of GPRs that are expressed in the central nervous system. SREB1 may function as an amine-like GPR.

Recognizes an N-glycosylated glycoprotein of 120 kDa with intra-chain disulfide bonds, identified as CD50 or ICAM-3 (WS: IV & V). Its epitope localizes in the D2 extracellular domain and is resistant to neuraminidase and proteases. CD50 is the major ligand for LFA-1 (CD11a/CD18) and may have signalling role to increase adhesion. It is expressed on thymocytes and T lymphocytes and is resistant to treatment with phosphatidylinositol (PI) phospholipase C. This MAb inhibits primary mixed lymphocyte culture (MLC) but not secondary MLC, cytotoxicity or proliferation induced by mitogens. It blocks binding of NK1-L16 stimulated T cells to L cells expressing CD50. This MAb is excellent for staining of formalin/paraffin tissues.

Glutathione-dependent oxidoreductase that facilitates the maintenance of mitochondrial redox homeostasis upon induction of apoptosis by oxidative stress. Involved in response to hydrogen peroxide and regulation of apoptosis caused by oxidative stress. Acts as a very efficient catalyst of monothiol reactions because of its high affinity for protein glutathione-mixed disulfides. Can receive electrons not only from glutathione (GSH), but also from thioredoxin reductase supporting both monothiol and dithiol reactions. Efficiently catalyzes both glutathionylation and deglutathionylation of mitochondrial complex I, which in turn regulates the superoxide production by the complex. Overexpression decreases the susceptibility to apoptosis and prevents loss of cardiolipin and cytochrome c release.

COLEC11 is a 271 amino acid C-type lectin protein that contains a collagen-like domain and a carbohydrate recognition domain, and plays an important role in host-defense. COLEC11 binds to various sugars and LPS (lipopolysaccharides), which include fucose but does not bind to glucose, hnRNP, Beta-1,3-Gal-T3 or mannose. COLEC11 is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues with high expression in kidney, liver, fetal liver, small intestine, thymus, spinal cord, placenta, adrenal gland, pancreas and several cell lines. COLEC11 is a secreted protein and all alternatively spliced isoforms of COLEC11 have oligomeric structures created through disulfide bonding.
