CRISP-8 (Cysteine-rich secretory protein 8), also known as PI15 (Peptidase inhibitor 15), P25TI or SugarCrisp, is a 258 amino acid secreted protein that belongs to the CRISP family. Expressed at low levels in thyroid, prostate, salivary and mammary tissue, CRISP-8 functions as a serine protease inhibitor that exhibits weak inhibitory action against Trypsin, a serine protease found in the digestive system. In addition to its role as a protease inhibitor, CRISP-8 is secreted in neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell lines, suggesting a role for CRISP-8 in tumour formation and metastasis within the central nervous system.

Galactocerebrosides are abundant sphingolipids of the myelin membrane of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system and are also present in small amounts in kidney. The key enzymatic step in the biosynthesis of galactocerebrosides consists of the transfer of galactose to ceramide catalyzed by UDP-galactose ceramide galactosyltransferase (CGT, EC 2.4.1.45). The enzyme UGT8 is the first involved in complex lipid biosynthesis in the myelinating oligodendrocyte.Galactocerebrosides are abundant sphingolipids of the myelin membrane of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system and are also present in small amounts in kidney. During embryonal development the expression of GPCR2037 is widespread in the nervous system (dorsal thalamus, striatum, locus coeruleus and hindbrain nuclei). GPCR2037 in the CNS of 7- and 15-day-old mouse embryos can localize to the habenular complex. Low levels of GPCR2037 are detectable in testis, liver, kidney and stomach. In addition to GPCR2037, Galanin mediates its effects through receptor subtypes GALR1, 2 and 3. Galanin ligand exerts anxiolytic actions via GALR receptors under conditions of high stress. Galanin coexists with norepinephrine and serotonin in neural systems that mediate emotion.

Recognizes a protein of 210-220 kDa, which is identified as the complement receptor 1 (CR1)/CD35. This MAb is specific for a site in CR1 that is distal from the C3b-binding site, so that it is unable to block CR1 activity. This MAb is highly specific to CR1 and shows no cross-reaction with CR2. The primary function of CR1 is to serve as the cellular receptor for C3b and C4b, the most important components of the complement system leading to clearance of foreign macromolecules. The Knops blood group system is a system of antigens located on this protein. Follicular dendritic cells (FDC) are restricted to the B-cell regions of secondary lymphoid follicles. They are CD21 /CD35 /CD1a-. This MAb labels follicular dendritic cells and follicular dendritic cell sarcoma.
