ANKMY1 (ankyrin repeat and MYND domain containing 1), also known as ZMYND13 or TSAL1, is a 941 amino acid protein that contains seven ANK repeats, three MORN repeats and one MYND-type zinc finger. MORN repeats were first identified in junctophilins, cytoplasmic proteins involved in junctions between the plasma membrane and the ER/SR membrane. The presence of MORN repeats suggests that ANKMY1 may interact with the plasma membrane. The MYND domain consists of a cluster of cysteine and histidine residues, arranged with an invariant spacing to form a potential zinc-binding motif which may be involved in protein-protein interactions. Three isoforms of ANKMY1 exists due to alternative splicing events.

Cyclic AMP-regulated gene expression frequently involves a DNA element designated the cAMP-regulated enhancer (CRE). Many transcription factors bind to this element, including the protein CREB which is activated as a result of phosphorylation by protein kinase A. Another high molecular weight transcriptional adapter protein, designated p300, is characterized by three cysteine- and histidine-rich regions, of which the most carboxy terminal region specifically binds the adenovirus E1A protein. p300 molecules lacking an intact E1A binding site bypass E1A repression even in the presence of high concentrations of E1A. Sequence analysis of CBP and p300 has revealed substantial homology, arguing that these proteins are members of a conserved family of co-activators.

CRP2BP is a 782 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene CSRP2BP. CRP2BP specifically interacts with the double LIM domain protein CRP2. The LIM domain is a conserved cysteine and histidine-containing structural module of two tandemly arranged zinc fingers. It has been identified in single or multiple copies in a variety of regulatory proteins, either in combination with defined functional domains, like homeodomains, or alone, like in the CRP family of LIM proteins. Members of the cysteine- and glycine-rich protein family (CRP1, CRP2 and CRP3) contain two zinc-binding LIM domains, LIM1 (amino-terminal) and LIM2 (carboxyl-terminal), and are implicated in diverse cellular processes linked to differentiation, growth control and pathogenesis. Although present in cytoplasm, CRP2BP is mainly a ubiquitously expressed nuclear protein, with highest expression in skeletal muscle and heart.
