The GL-1 monoclonal antibody reacts specifically with the mouse B7-2 (also known as CD86), a costimulatory molecule expressed by B and T lymphocytes, macrophages (thioglycollate-induced from peritoneum), astrocytes and dendritic cells. The memory CD4+ T lymphocytes express CD86 (as mRNA and protein). CD86, and the B7-1 (CD 80) molecule, are ligands for CD152 and CD28, and influence the costimulatory interactions between lymphocytes B and T. B7-2 is also involved in the mouse natural killer cell-mediated cytotoxicity. The GL-1 antibody blocks the mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR) and inhibits the T-cells stimulation by antigen-presenting cells. Mixtures of anti-B7-1 antibody and GL-1 were reported to inhibit the interaction between CD125 and its ligand with the in vivo priming of cytotoxic T lymphocytes.

Stimulating T cells with HHV6 (U90) Peptide pool releases downstream cytokines and upregulates activation markers, enabling antigen-specific T cells to be detected or isolated for analysis. HHV6 (U90) Peptide pool is a lyophilised mixture of 267 peptides from protein U90 of human herpesvirus 6B (HHV-6B; strain Z29) and consists of 15-mer peptides with 11-amino-acid overlaps that cover amino acids 1 to 1078 on U90. U89 - U90 RNA expression occurs under immediate-early conditions of infection (Mirandola <i>et al.</i>), and the associated protein exhibits peri-nuclear and cytoplasmic localization (Nikolaou <i>et al.</i>). Also known as immediate-early protein IE1, latency-associated transcripts of HHV6 may function as a source of IE1 during viral reactivation (Kondo <i>et al.</i>). Viral peptide pools are useful for a broad range of applications, including vaccine development, immunological research, and diagnostic assay development.

EGS is a water-insoluble, homobifunctional N-hydroxysuccinimide ester (NHS ester) and Sulfo-EGS is its water-soluble analog. The spacer arm contains two cleavable ester sites that may be broken with hydroxylamine, which yields two fragments with terminal amide bonds and the release of ethylene glycol. These reagents are often used for conjugating radiolabeled ligands to cell surface receptors. The water insoluble reagent EGS does not possess a charged group, is lipophilic and, therefore, membrane-permeable and useful for intracellular and intramembrane protein conjugation. EGS is first dissolved in DMSO or DMF and added to the aqueous reaction mixture at a final solvent concentration of 10-20%, to minimize detrimental affects to the protein.
