SIRT2 Antibody: Autophagy, the process of bulk degradation of cellular proteins through an autophagosomic-lysosomal pathway is important for normal growth control and may be defective in tumor cells. It is involved in the preservation of cellular nutrients under starvation conditions as well as the normal turnover of cytosolic components. This process is negatively regulated by TOR (Target of rapamycin) through phosphorylation of autophagy protein APG1. ATG16, another member of the autophagy protein family, forms a complex with the ATG5-ATG12 conjugate. This multimeric protein has been shown to be essential for autophagosome formation in both yeast and mammals and targets the ATG5-ATG12 complex to the autophagic isolation membrane during the formation of the autophagosome. Because mammalian ATG16 has seven WD-repeats in its C-terminal domain, it has been suggested that these may form a platform for further protein-protein interactions. Multiple isoforms of ATG16 are known to exist.

Neurabin II may regulate dendritic spine properties as neurabin II(-) mice have increased spine density during development in vitro and exhibit altered filopodial formation in cultured cells. Neurabin may also play a role in glutamatergic transmission as Neurabin II(-) mice exhibit reduced long-term depression and resistance to kainate-induced seizures and neronal apoptosis. Neurabin II complexes with the catalytic subunit of protein phosphatase-1 (PP1) in vitro thus modulating the activity of PP1.

GDF6 Antibody: Growth differentiation factors (GDFs) are members of the transforming growth factor (TGF) superfamily that is involved in embryonic development and adult tissue homeostasis. Both GDF6 and GDF7 are closely related to GDF5 which has been shown to induce activation of plasminogen activator, thereby inducing angiogenesis. It is predominantly expressed in long bones during fetal embryonic development and is involved in bone formation. In Xenopus, GDF6 is expressed at the edge of the neural plate and within the anterior neural plate including the eye fields. GDF6 is required for normal formation of some bones and joints in the limbs, skull, and axial skeleton. It may regulate patterning of the ectoderm by interacting with bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs), and control eye development. Mutations in this gene result in colobomata, which are congenital abnormalities in ocular development, and in Klippel-Feil syndrome (KFS), a congenital disorder of spinal segmentation.
