ZNF81, also known as HFZ20 or MRX45, is a transcriptional regulator belonging to the Kr_ppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. It localizes to the nucleus and contains 12 C2H2-type zinc fingers and 1 KRAB domain. Mutations in the gene encoding ZNF81 are implicated in nonsyndromic X-linked mental retardation (XLMR).

ZBTB2 is a 514 amino acid nuclear protein that contains one BTB (POZ) domain and 4 C2H2-type zinc fingers. ZBTB25, also known as ZNF46 or KUP, is a 435 amino acid nuclear protein that is expressed mainly in hematopoietic cells and testis and contains one BTB (POZ) domain and 2 C2H2-type zinc fingers.

Expressed mostly in heart, skeletal muscle and brain. Isoforms 1 and 2 are highly expressed in testis. There are three named isoforms.

ZNF131 also represses ER Alpha (Estrogen receptor alpha)-mediated transactivation by interrupting ER?binding to the estrogen-response element. There are two isoforms of ZNF131 that are produced as a result of alternative splicing events.
