The metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) are key receptors in the modulation of excitatory synaptic transmission in the central nervous system. They are implicated in many forms of neural plasticity as well as learning and memory and drug abuse. Group I metabotropic glutamate receptors (consisting of mGluR1 and mGluR5) are G-protein-coupled neurotransmitter receptors that are localized in the perisynaptic region of the postsynaptic membrane. When activated, Group I mGluRs lead to stimulation of phospholipase and activation of Protein Kinase C. In contrast activation of Group II metabotropic receptors (mGluR2 and mGluR3) leads to inhibition of adenylate cyclase.

PADI2 encodes a member of the peptidyl arginine deiminase family of enzymes, which catalyze the post-translational deimination of proteins by converting arginine residues into citrullines in the presence of calcium ions. The family members have distinct substrate specificities and tissue-specific expression patterns. The type II enzyme is the most widely expressed family member. Known substrates for this enzyme include myelin basic protein in the central nervous system and vimentin in skeletal muscle and macrophages. Cytokeratin 8 (CK8) belongs to the type II (or B or basic) subfamily of high molecular weight cytokeratins and exists in combination with cytokeratin 18 (CK18). This mAb recognises all simple epithelia including glandular epithelium, for example thyroid, female breast, gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract, and urogenital tract including transitional epithelium. All adenocarcinomas and most squamous carcinomas are positive but keratinizing squamous carcinomas are usually negative. This antibody is useful in demonstrating the presence of Paget cells; there is very little keratin 18 in the normal epidermis so only Paget cells are stained.

NCBP1 Antibody: NCBP1, also known as CBP80, is a component of the nuclear cap-binding protein complex (CBC), which binds to the monomethylated 5' cap of nascent pre-mRNA in the nucleoplasm. ST3gal6 Antibody: Sialyltransferases catalyze the transfer of sialic acid from cytidine 5-prime monophospho-N-acetylneuraminic acid (CMP-NeuAc) to terminal positions of glycoprotein and glycolipid carbohydrate groups. Terminal NeuAc residues are key determinants of carbohydrate structures, such as the sialyl-Lewis X determinants, and are widely distributed in many cell types. However, cancer cells often express more heavily sialylated glycans on their cell surface and this feature sometimes correlates with invasiveness. In contrast, expression of ST3gal6, a member of the sialyltransferase family that sialylates type II lactosamine structures on glycoproteins and glycolipids, was found to be significantly decreased by hypermethylation of the gene in gastrointestinal cancer. At least three isoforms of ST3gal6 are known to exist.

Interleukin-18 is a secreted protein and it belongs to the IL-1 family. IL-18 is a proinflammatory cytokine and produced by macrophages and other cells. This cytokine can induce the IFN-gamma production of T cells. The combination of this cytokine and IL12 has been shown to inhibit IL-4 dependent IgE and IgG1 production, and enhance IgG2a production of B cells. IL-18 binding protein (IL18BP) can specifically interact with this cytokine, and thus negatively regulate its biological activity. After stimulation with IL-18, natural killer (NK) cells and certain T cells release another important cytokine called interferon- gamma (IFN- gamma ) or type II interferon that plays an important role in activating the macrophages or other cells.
