Recognizes a protein of 75 kDa, identified as γ heavy chain of human immunoglobulins. It does not cross-react with α (IgA), μ (IgM), ε (IgE), or δ (IgD), heavy chains, T-cells, monocytes, granulocytes, or erythrocytes. This MAb is useful in the identification of leukemias, plasmacytomas, and certain non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. The most common feature of these malignancies is the restricted expression of a single heavy chain class. Demonstration of clonality in lymphoid infiltrates indicates that the infiltrate is clonal and therefore malignant.

This MAb is specific to Complement 4d (C4d) and it reacts with the secreted as well as cell-bound C4d.C4d is a degradation product of the activated complement factor C4b. Complement 4b is typically activated by binding of Abs to specific target molecules. Following activation and degradation of the C4 molecule, thio-ester groups are exposed, which allow transient, covalent binding of the degradation product Complement 4d to endothelial cell surfaces and extracellular matrix components of vascular basement membranes near the sites of C4 activation. The presence of C4d in peritubular capillaries is a key indicator for acute humoral (i.e. antibody-mediated) rejection of kidney, heart, pancreas and lung allografts. As an established marker of antibody-mediated acute renal allograft rejection and its proclivity for endothelium, this component can be detected in peritubular capillaries in chronic renal allograft rejection as well as hyperacute rejection, acute vascular rejection, acute cellular rejection, and borderline rejection. It has been shown to be a significant predictor of transplant kidney graft survival. Anti-C4d, combined with anti-C3d, can be utilized as a tool for diagnosis of allograft rejection that may warrant a prompt and aggressive anti-rejection treatment.

This antibody recognizes cytokeratin 10 (56.5 kDa) and cytokeratin 13 (53 kDa) in Western blotting. It recognizes only cytokeratin 13 in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections. It does not react with cytokeratin 10 positive, cytokeratin 13 negative epithelia such as epidermis. However, on frozen sections this MAb serves as differentiation-related marker of all stratified epithelia; it stains all suprabasal cells in both cornifying and non-cornifying stratified epithelia and more differentiated cells of squamous carcinomas.

Reportedly, anti-NGFR is a reliable marker for desmoplastic and neurotropic melanomas. NGFR is expressed in mature non-neural cells such as perivascular cells, dental pulp cells, lymphoidal follicular dendritic cells, basal epithelium of oral mucosa and hair follicles, prostate basal cells, and myoepithelial cells. DZIP1 (DAZ interacting protein 1) is also known as DZIP or DZIP2 and is a 867 amino acid protein which is expressed as three isoforms, designated DZIPb, DZIPt1 and DZIPt2. DZIP1 is localized to testis, oocytes, ovary and fetal brain, as well as in embryonic stem cells and germ cells. In testis, DZIP1 is localized to the nucleus and also shows some cytoplasmic distribution in spermatogonia. DZIP1 belongs to the C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family, and, characteristc of the C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family, DZIP1 contains one C2H2-type zinc-finger region through which it is thought to interact with DAZ, an interaction that promotes spermiogenesis. DZIP1 expression is not found in those afflicted with Sertoli cell-only syndrome (characterized by the absence of germ cells in the testis), suggesting that the lack of DZIP1 may be involved in the pathogenesis of Sertoli cell-only syndrome-induced male sterility.

Many vertebrate homeo box-containing genes have been identified on the basis of their sequence similarity with Drosophila developmental genes. Members of the Dlx gene family contain a homeobox that is related to that of Distal-less (Dll), a gene expressed in the head and limbs of the developing fruit fly. The Distal-less (Dlx) family of genes comprises at least 6 different members, DLX1-DLX6. The DLX proteins are postulated to play a role in forebrain and craniofacial development. Three transcript variants have been described for this gene, however, the full length nature of one variant has not been described. Studies of the two splice variants revealed that one encoded isoform functions as a repressor of the beta-globin gene while the other isoform lacks that function. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].
