Casein kinase II is a serine/threonine protein kinase that phosphorylates acidic proteins such as casein. The kinase exists as a tetramer and is composed of an alpha, an alpha-prime, and two beta subunits. The alpha subunits contain the catalytic activity while the beta subunits undergo autophosphorylation. BKV Peptide pool is a lyophilised mixture of 171 peptides from the Large T (LT) antigen of BK polyomavirus (BKV), and consists of 15-mer peptides with 11-amino-acid overlaps that cover amino acids 1 to 695 on LT antigen. LT antigen is an early viral protein (Low <i>et al.</i>) that contributes to the transformation and maintenance of host cells (Nakshatri <i>et al.</i>). It has been found to bind to a subset of tumor suppressor proteins (Harris <i>et al.</i>), and its co-expression with p53 has been observed in polyomavirus-associated nephropathy (Seemayer <i>et al.</i>). Viral peptide pools are useful for a broad range of applications, including vaccine development, immunological research, and diagnostic assay development.

This complex plays an important role in coupling antigen recognition to several intracellular signal-transduction pathways. The genes encoding the epsilon, gamma and delta polypeptides are located in the same cluster on chromosome 11. The epsilon polypeptide plays an essential role in T-cell development. CD3E plays an essential role in T-cell development, and defects in CD3E gene cause severe immunodeficiency. CD3E gene has also been linked to a susceptibility to type I diabetes in women. It encodes two Ig-like C2-type domains and fuses with an API2 gene, which is highly expressed in adult lymphoid tissue. The translocation of the MALT1 gene, which maps to human chromosome 18q21, and the apoptosis-inhibiting API2 gene results in an increased development of MALT lymphomas and apoptosis inhibition. Sites at which this API2-MALT1 (11;18)(q21;q21) translocation commonly occurs are within human lung and kidney tissue. MALT lymphoma expresses nuclear <a href=../search_result.php?search_txt=bcl10>Bcl10</a>, which mediates the oligomerization and activation of a caspase-like domain. MALT1 mRNA is found in pre-B cells, mature B cells and plasma cells.

HOX11, also called homeobox11 or Tcl-3 is located at the 10q24 T-Cell translocation breakpoint region. It encodes a homeobox-domain containing protein, HOX11, containing a glycine and proline-rich amino terminus. HOX11 is required for maintenance of the developing spleen and cell survival. The HOX11protein binds to a specific DNA sequence and localizes to the cell nucleus. It transactivates transcription of a reporter gene linked to a cis-regulatory element, acting as a positive transcription activator. The HOX11 gene is highly expressed in T-ALLs as a result of a t (7:10) (q35;q24) or t(10:14)(q24;qll) translocation. The homeobox gene is deregulated upon translocation into the T-cell receptor locus and activates a specific subset of tumor-associated target genes. HOX 11 gene translocation has been attributed to T-cell leukemia and lymphoid neoplasias.

CMV IE1 is a transcriptional transactivator and autoregulator (Cherrington and Mocarski). Studies show that IE1 promotes viral transcription by antagonizing histone deacetylation (Nevels <i>et al.</i>) and, along with IE2, may contribute to the survival of CMV-infected cells by blocking tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α)-induced apoptosis (Zhu <i>et al.</i>). Viral peptide pools are useful for a broad range of applications, including vaccine development, immunological research, and diagnostic assay development.
