ZAP70 is a 70 kDa protein tyrosine kinase found in T-cells and natural killer cells.Control of this protein translation is via the IgVH gene. ZAP70 protein is expressed in leukemic cells of approximately 25% of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cases as well.Anti-ZAP70 expression is an excellent surrogate marker for the distinction between the Ig-mutated (anti-ZAP70 negative) and Ig-unmutated (anti-ZAP70 positive) CLL subtypes and can identify patient groups with divergent clinical courses. The anti-ZAP70 positive Ig-unmutated CLL cases have been shown to have a poorer prognosis.

Consequently, this antibody is valuable when distinguishing between reactive and neoplastic follicular proliferation in lymph node biopsies. The gene encoding GLT25D1 is located on human chromosome 19, which consists of over 63 million bases, houses approximately 1,400 genes and is recognized for having the greatest gene density of the human chromosomes.

Bmf (Bcl-2-modifying factor) belongs to the Bcl-2 protein family. Bcl-2 family members form hetero- or homo-dimers and act as anti- or pro-apoptotic regulators that are involved in a wide variety of cellular activities. Bmf contains a single Bcl-2 homology domain 3 (BH3), and has been shown to interact with other Bcl-2 proteins and functions as an apoptotic activator. Two different start sites can give rise to two proteins of 25 or 30 kDa. It is found to be sequestered to myosin V motors by its association with dynein light chain 2 (DLC2), which may be important for sensing intracellular damage and triggering apoptosis.

Hoechst dyes are cell membrane-permeant, minor groove-binding blue fluorescent DNA stains. Hoechst dyes are widely used in cell cycle and apoptosis studies and also as nuclear counterstains. Biotium also offers Hoechst 33258, 10 mg/ml in dH2O (#40044). Hoechst 33258 and Hoechst 33342 are spectrally similar. Hoechst 33528 is slightly more water soluble than Hoechst 33342, but both dyes are widely used in cell cycle and apoptosis studies and also as nuclear counterstains. They are typically used to stain live or fixed cells in buffer or medium at 1 ug/mL, with no wash step required.

PolyFreeze is a water-soluble support matrix and a form of embedding medium for frozen sectioning. PolyFreeze sections flawlessly at routine frozen specimen thickness of 5-6 μ and leaves no slide residue. It provides for -20 ºC cryostat sectioning in rapid set embedment.
