Bcl-6b (B-cell CLL/lymphoma 6, member B), also known as ZNF62, BAZF or ZBTB28, is a 480 amino acid nuclear protein that contains one BTB (POZ) domain and five C2H2-type zinc fingers. Expressed ubiquitously with highest expression in placenta and heart, Bcl-6b associates with Bcl-6 and functions as a sequence-specific transcriptional repressor that is thought to be necessary for early B-cell development. The gene encoding Bcl-6b maps to human chromosome 17, which comprises over 2.5% of the human genome and encodes over 1,200 genes.

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to a small class of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPs are cell signaling molecules that play regulatory roles in a variety of cellular processes. PTPs in this class contain a protein tyrosine phosphatase catalytic domain and a characteristic C-terminal prenylation motif. This PTP has been shown to primarily associate with plasmic and endosomal membrane through its C-terminal prenylation. This PTP was found to interact with the beta-subunit of Rab geranylgeranyltransferase II (beta GGT II), and thus may function as a regulator of GGT II activity. Overexpression of this gene in mammalian cells conferred a transformed phenotype, which suggested its role in tumorigenesis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. Related pseudogenes exist on chromosomes 11, 12 and 17.

This gene encodes a DNA topoisomerase, an enzyme that controls and alters the topologic states of DNA during transcription. This nuclear enzyme is involved in processes such as chromosome condensation, chromatid separation, and the relief of torsional stress that occurs during DNA transcription and replication. It catalyses the transient breaking and rejoining of two strands of duplex DNA which allows the strands to pass through one another, thus altering the topology of DNA. Two forms of this enzyme exist as likely products of a gene duplication event. The gene encoding this form, alpha, is localised to chromsome 17 and the beta gene is localised to chromosome 3. The gene encoding this enzyme functions as the target for several anticancer agents and a variety of mutations in this gene have been associated with the development of drug resistance. Reduced activity of this enzyme may also play a role in ataxia-telangiectasia.

WW domain-binding protein 2 (WBP2) is a 261 amino acid protein expressed in most tissues. The WW domain is composed of 38 to 40 semi-conserved amino acids and is shared by various groups of proteins, including structural, regulatory and Signalling proteins. The domain mediates protein-protein interactions through the binding of polyproline ligands. WBP2 binds to the WW domain of Yes-associated protein (YAP), WW domain containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1 (AIP5) and WW domain containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 2 (AIP2). The gene encoding WBP2 is located on human chromosome 17, which comprises over 2.5% of the human genome and encodes over 1,200 genes, some of which are involved in tumour suppression and in the pathogenesis of Li-Fraumeni syndrome, early onset breast cancer and a predisposition to cancers of the ovary, colon, prostate gland and fallopian tubes.

Crystallins are the major proteins of the vertebrate eye lens, where they maintain the transparency and refractive index of the lens. Crystallins are divided into a, b, and g families, and the b- and g-crystallins also comprise a superfamily. Crystallins usually contain seven distinctive protein regions, including four homologous motifs, a connecting peptide, and N- and C-terminal extensions. b-crystallins constitute the major lens structural proteins. They associate into dimers, tetramers, and higher order aggregates. The b-crystallin subfamily is composed of several gene products, including bA1-, bA2-, bA3-, bA4-, bB1-, bB2- and bB3-crystallin. The bA1- and bA3-crystallin proteins are encoded by a single mRNA. They differ by only 17 amino acids, and bA1-crystallin is generated by use of an alternate translation initiation site. The genes for bA4-, bB1-, bB2- and bB3-crystallin are clustered on human chromosome 22q11, while the genes for bA3/A1- and bA2-crystallin map to human chromosomes 17q11 and 2q34, respectively.

IL-17 Antibody: Interleukin 17 (IL-17) is a family of pro-inflammatory cytokines produced by activated T cells and is thought to have a major role in the initiation and perpetuation of rheumatoid arthritis. IL-17 regulates the activities of NF-kappa B and mitogen-activated protein kinases such as ERK and JNK. In addition, IL-17 stimulates the expression of IL-6 and cyclooxygenase-2 and enhances the production of nitric oxide. IL-17-producing T helper cells (TH-17 cells) have been the subject of much attention due to the importance of IL-17 in the pathogenesis of autoimmune inflammation. Because of its role in autoimmune diseases, it is thought that targeting the production and action of IL-17 would be beneficial therapeutically in these diseases.
