IL-17RE Antibody: The interleukin 17 receptor E (IL-17RE) shares limited similarity to the receptor of IL-17A, a ubiquitous type I membrane glycoprotein that with IL-17A plays a pathogenic role in many inflammatory and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. IL-17RE is the functional receptor of IL-17C and has been suggested to mediate mucosal immunity to infection with intestinal pathogens. IL-17C is produced by epithelia in response to bacterial challenge and binds to a receptor complex formed by IL-17RE and IL-17RA on the epithelial cell surface, thereby regulating the immune function of epithelial cells in an autocrine manner.

Caspases, or cysteine-aspartic proteases, are a family of cysteine proteases that play essential roles in inflammation, apoptosis and necrosis. They are often referred to as the 'executioners of apoptosis.' Caspases are synthesised as inactive proenzymes comprising an N-terminal peptide (prodomain) together with one large and one small subunit. Active caspase-1 and -3 are heterodimers, containing two small and two large subunits. Active Caspase-3 subunits are 17 kD (p17) and 12 kD (p12). Pro Caspase-3 is inactive and has virtually no activity until it is cleaved by an initiator caspase. It is activated by Caspases -8, -9 and -10 ('initiator caspases') and then effects apoptosis by cleaving targeted cellular proteins.

Crystallins are the major proteins of the vertebrate eye lens, where they maintain the transparency and refractive index of the lens. Crystallins are divided into Alpha, Beta, and Gamma families, and the Beta- and Gamma-crystallins also comprise a superfamily. Crystallins usually contain seven distinctive protein regions, including four homologous motifs, a connecting peptide, and N- and C-terminal extensions. Beta-crystallins constitute the major lens structural proteins, and they associate into dimers, tetramers, and higher order aggregates. The Beta-crystallin subfamily is composed of several gene products, including Beta A1-, Beta A2-, Beta A3-, Beta A4-, Beta B1-, Beta B2- and Beta B3-crystallin. The Beta A1- and Beta A3-crystallin proteins are encoded by a single mRNA. They differ by only 17 amino acids, and Beta A1-crystallin is generated by use of an alternate translation initiation site.

This gene encodes a DNA topoisomerase, an enzyme that controls and alters the topologic states of DNA during transcription. This nuclear enzyme is involved in processes such as chromosome condensation, chromatid separation, and the relief of torsional stress that occurs during DNA transcription and replication. It catalyses the transient breaking and rejoining of two strands of duplex DNA which allows the strands to pass through one another, thus altering the topology of DNA. Two forms of this enzyme exist as likely products of a gene duplication event. The gene encoding this form, alpha, is localised to chromsome 17 and the beta gene is localised to chromosome 3. The gene encoding this enzyme functions as the target for several anticancer agents and a variety of mutations in this gene have been associated with the development of drug resistance. Reduced activity of this enzyme may also play a role in ataxia-telangiectasia.

Uteroglobin-Related Protein 1 (UGRP1) belongs to the secretoglobin family which has been suggested to play a role in lung inflammation and allergic diseases. UGRP1 is a 17 kDa secreted homodimeric protein that shows amino acid sequence similarity with uteroglobin. UGRP1 is expressed predominantly in the lung and low levels of expression are detected in the thyroid. Expression of UGRP1 in lung epithelial cells is enhanced by IL-10 and decreased through the activities of IL-9 and IL-5. UGRP1 interacts with the macrophage scavenger receptor with collagenous structure which is expressed by alveolar macrophages in the lung. It have suggested that UGRP1 may be involved in inflammation and pathogen clearance in the lung by binding to its receptor.

Clathrin-mediated endocytosis is the pathway by which many receptors for nutrients and hormones are internalized to be recycled or down-regulated. During formation of clathrin coated membranes, clathrin co-assembles with heterotetrameric molecules known as assembly polypeptides (APs) or adaptors which form a layer of protein coat between the clathrin lattice and the membrane. There are two characterized adaptors AP1 and AP2. AP1 is associated with clathrin coated vesicles at the trans-Golgi network and AP2 is associated with the endocytic clathrin coated vesicles at the plasma membrane and has been shown to specifically interact with Shc and EGF receptor. AP2 is composed of four subunits, two separate 100 kDa gene products with similar domain structures (alpha and beta adaptin) and a 50 and 17 kDa subunit. There are two alpha-adaptin genes, alpha A and alpha C which have a tissue specific pattern of expression.
