The homeobox DNA-binding domain is a 60 amino acid motif that is conserved among many species and functions to bind DNA via a helix-turn-helix structure, thereby playing a role in transcriptional regulation and the control of gene expression. HMX2 (H6 family homeobox 2), also known as H6L or Nkx5-2, is a 273 amino acid nuclear protein that belongs to the HMX homeobox family and contains one homeobox DNA-binding domain. HMX2 functions as a transcription factor that assists in specification of neuronal cell types and is essential for proper development of hypothalamus and inner ear. Hemizygous deletions of the gene encoding HMX2 are thought to lead to vestibular dysfunction, inner ear malformations and congenital sensorineural hearing loss.

Membrane-permeant AM ester form of Fluo-3 that can be loaded into cells via incubation. Because of the relatively low water solubility of the AM ester, the mild detergent Pluronic F-127 (catalog no. 59004) is often used as a dispersing agent to facilitate loading. Fluo-3 AM ester itself does not bind Ca2 , but it is readily hydrolyzed to fluo-3 by endogenous esterases once the dye is inside the cells. An important application of Fluo-3 AM ester is its use in high throughput drug screening.

Immunoglobulins have similar structures of two identical heavy chains and two identical light chains. Both the heavy chains and the light chains are divided into constant and variable regions. The constant regions have the same amino acid sequences between all the immunoglobulin classes. The variable regions have approximately 110 amino acids with high sequence variability. The amino acid sequence of the heavy chain determines the class of an immunoglobulin. The five types of immunoglobulin heavy chains are known as: IgG, IgA, IgM, IgD, and IgE. IgG is divided into four subclasses, and IgA is divided into two subclasses. In serum IgA and IgG are monomers with a single 4 polypeptide unit; while, IgM is a pen tamer. IgA may also form polymers. Kappa light chain antibody can be used for the identification of leukemias, plasmacytomas and certain non Hodgkin's lymphomas. Kappa light chain contains one immunoglobulin like domain. The EU sequence has the INV allotypic marker, Ala 45 and Val 83. The ROY sequence has the INV allotypic marker, Ala 45 and Leu 83.

FARSLA, also known as FRSA, CML33, FARSL or PheHA (phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetase, alpha subunit), is a member of the class-II aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase family and is highly expressed in proliferating cells of bone marrow. FARSLA is a cytoplasmic phenylalanine-tRNA synthetase that functions as a heterodimer consisting of a catalytic alpha-subunit and a regulatory beta-subunit. The alpha-subunit is responsible for forming the amino acid binding pocket, mediating the ATP/aminoacyl adenylate binding, and interacts with the acceptor stem of the tRNA. FARSLA functions in a cell cycle-dependent and differentiation-dependent manner.

HDAC6 is a member of the class II mammalian histone deacetylases. Human HDAC6 is composed of 1215 amino acid residues. It possesses two separate putative catalytic domains. Both catalytic domains are fully functional HDACs and contribute independently to the overall activity of HDAC6 protein. A very potent NES is present at the amino-terminus of HDAC6, which was found to play an important role in regulating the shuttling of HDAC6 protein between cytoplasm and nucleus. The shuttling process may be a critical regulatory mechanism of HDAC6 function. The expression of HDAC6 is tightly linked to the state of cell differentiation. HDAC6 may participate in coordinating expression of a group of genes involved in the remodelling of chromatin during cell differentiation.

FAM84A is a 292 amino acid protein that belongs to the FAM84 family of proteins. Predominantly expressed in testis, FAM84A shares 44% amino acid identity with the related protein FAM84B. FAM84A localizes to a subcellular membrane region where there is no contact between neighboring cells and is believed to play a role in cell morphology and motility. More specifically, the expression of FAM84A increases cell motility. Two FAM84A isoforms are expressed due to alternative splicing events. Isoform 2 can be phosphorylated on various serine residues and this phosphorylation is associated with cellular morphology. FAM84A is upregulated in colorectal cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, cholangiocarcinoma and bladder cancer tissues. Via its ability to increase cell motility, FAM84A may contribute to the invasion and metastasis of cancer cells.
