Beschreibung:
Potent inhibitor of the complement membrane attack complex (MAC) action. Acts by binding to the C8 and/or C9 complements of the assembling MAC, thereby preventing incorporation of the multiple copies of C9 required for complete formation of the osmolytic pore. This inhibitor appears to be species-specific. Involved in signal transduction for T-cell activation complexed to a protein tyrosine kinase. The soluble form from urine retains its specific complement binding activity, but exhibits greatly reduced ability to inhibit MAC assembly on cell membranes.

Apolipoprotein A II is the second most abundant protein of the high density lipoprotein particles. The apolipoprotein A II gene consists of 4 exons and 3 introns. The four exons encode the 5' untranslated region, pre peptide, a short N terminal domain and a C terminal domain composed of a variable number of lipid binding amphipathic helices. Familial apolipoprotein A II deficiency may result from a splice junction alteration which blocks splicing of intron 3 from the primary transcript and result in the formation of a non functional mRNA.

Regulates centrosomal microtubule nucleation. Required for normal cell cycle progression from G2 to mitosis. Required for appropriate cell cycle arrests after ionizing irradiation in both the S-phase and the G2 phase of the cell cycle. Involved in transcriptional regulation of P21 in response to DNA damage. Required for FANCD2 targeting to sites of DNA damage. May function as a transcriptional regulator. Contributes to homologous recombination repair (HRR) via its direct interaction with PALB2, fine-tunes recombinational repair partly through its modulatory role in the PALB2-dependent loading of BRCA2-RAD51 repair machinery at DNA breaks. Component of the BRCA1-RBBP8 complex which regulates CHEK1 activation and controls cell cycle G2/M checkpoints on DNA damage via BRCA1-mediated ubiquitination of RBBP8. Acts as a transcriptional activator (By similarity). Inhibits lipid synthesis by binding to inactive phosphorylated ACACA and preventing its dephosphorylation.
