Beschreibung:
Recognises a protein of 16-27 kDa, identified as human Interferon alpha 2 (IFNA2). Its epitope maps between amino acids 43-53 of the IFNA2. This mAb is specific for IFNA2 and does not cross-react with IFNA1. The epitopes of clones N27 and N39 mAbs are different and represent a good combination of antibodies to set up an ELISA assay for the quantitation of IFNA2 after viral infections. The IFNA family consists of 24 or more genes or pseudo-genes. The alpha interferons are mainly produced by lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, and cell lines such as Namalwa and KG1 following induction by viruses, nucleic acids, and glucocorticoid hormones. They are involved in virus resistance on target cells, inhibition of cell proliferation, induction of cytokines and regulation of expression of MHC class I antigens.

Stimulating T cells with HPV16 (L1) Peptide pool releases downstream cytokines and upregulates activation markers, enabling antigen-specific T cells to be detected or isolated for analysis. HPV16 (L1) Peptide pool is a lyophilised mixture of 124 peptides from major capsid protein L1 of human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV16) consisting of 15-mer peptides with 11-amino-acid overlaps that cover amino acids 1 to 505 on L1. L1 enters the nuclei of host cells via a Kap α2β1-mediated pathway (Nelson <i>et al.</i>). It cooperates with E2, another viral protein, to enhance viral DNA replication (Siddiqa <i>et al.</i>). L1 pentamers can assemble into virus-like particles (Chen <i>et al.</i> 2000; Chen <i>et al.</i> 2001). Viral peptide pools are useful for a broad range of applications, including vaccine development, immunological research, and diagnostic assay development.

This protein together with PCBP-1 also functions as translational coactivators of poliovirus RNA via a sequence-specific interaction with stem-loop IV of the IRES and promote poliovirus RNA replication by binding to its 5'-terminal cloverleaf structure. It has also been implicated in translational control of the 15-lipoxygenase mRNA, human Papillomavirus type 16 L2 mRNA, and hepatitis A virus RNA. The protein is also suggested to play a part in formation of a sequence-specific alpha-globin mRNP complex which is associated with alpha-globin mRNA stability. This gene and PCBP-1 has paralogues PCBP3 and PCBP4 which is thought to arose as a result of duplication events of entire genes.The protein encoded by this gene appears to be multifunctional. It along with PCBP-1 and hnRNPK corresponds to the major cellular poly (rC)-binding proteins. It contains three K-homologous (KH) domains which may be involved in RNA binding. This multiexon structural mRNA is thought to be retrotransposed to generate PCBP-1 intronless gene which has similar functions. This gene and PCBP-1 has paralogues PCBP3 and PCBP4 which is thought to arose as a result of duplication events of entire genes. It also has two processed pseudogenes PCBP2P1 and PCBP2P2. There are presently two alternatively spliced transcript variants described for this gene.
