NARF (nuclear prelamin A recognition factor), also known as IOP2, is a 456 amino acid nuclear protein that belongs to the NARF family. Expressed ubiquitously with highest expression in heart, skeletal muscle and brain, NARF binds to the C-terminal end of prenylated prelamin A and may be a member of a prelamin A-containing endoprotease complex. Additionally, via its association with prelamin A, NARF may be involved in heterochromatin organization. NARF is expressed as three isoforms due to alternative splicing events and, upon DNA damage, may be phosphorylated by ATM or ATR.

Tenofovir disoproxil is a prodrug of the acyclic nucleoside phosphonate, tenofovir. Tenofovir is converted by cellular enzymes to tenofovir diphosphate, an obligate chain terminator that inhibits the activity of HIV reverse transcriptase and hepatitis B virus polymerase. Due to its rapid intracellular uptake, the anti-HIV activity of tenofovir disoproxil is reportedly >100-fold greater than that of the negatively charged tenofovir in a T cell line and primary blood lymphocytes.

Members of the BAGE gene family encode antigens that are recognized by cytotoxic T lymphocytes and are also known as CT (cancer/testis) antigens. Generated by juxtacentromeric shuffling of the MLL3 gene, the ancestral BAGE gene was expanded by acrocentric exchanges and/or juxtacentromeric movements.Generally, BAGE proteins are silent in all normal tissues with the exception of testis. BAGE2 and BAGE 3 (B melanoma antigen 2 and 3, respectively), also known as Cancer/testis antigen 2.2 and 2.3 (respectively), are 109 amino acid secreted proteins that are expressed in 22% of melanomas, lung and bladder carcinomas, and are also expressed in normal testis tissue. Like the genes encoding MAGE proteins, BAGE genes are most likely silenced by DNA methylation and/or chromatin compaction in normal tissues other than testis.
