This gene encodes a protein that shares a high degree of sequence similarity with p21-activated kinase (PAK) family members. The proteins of this family are Rac/Cdc42-associated Ste20-like Ser/Thr protein kinases, characterized by a highly conserved amino-terminal Cdc42/Rac interactive binding (CRIB) domain and a carboxyl-terminal kinase domain. PAK kinases are implicated in the regulation of a number of cellular processes, including cytoskeleton rearrangement, apoptosis and the MAP kinase signaling pathway. The protein encoded by this gene was found to interact with androgen receptor (AR), which is a steroid hormone-dependent transcription factor that is important for male sexual differentiation and development.

In primary dermal endothelial cells this gene is transiently upregulated in response to fibroblast growth factor two. SPRY2 is indirectly involved in the non-cell autonomous inhibitory effect on fibroblast growth factor two signaling. The protein interacts with Cas-Br-M (murine) ectropic retroviral transforming sequence, and can function as a bimodal regulator of epidermal growth factor receptor/mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling. KEAP1 Antibody: KEAP1 (kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1) is a stress sensing adaptor for the Cullin3 (Cul3)-dependent E3 ubiquitin ligase complex that negatively regulates NRF2 (NF-E2-related factor 2) and plays a role in the oxidative stress response. It targets NFE2L2/NRF2 for ubiquitination and degradation by the proteasome. KEAP1 contains an amino terminal BTB/POZ domain and a carboxyl terminal KELCH domain which are required for interaction with NRF2, and in binding Cul3-E3 ubiquitin ligase. Altered expression of NRF2 is associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). KEAP1 also targets the down regulation of NF-kappa B activity by targeting IKK beta degradation. Mutation of the KEAP1 gene is found in lung cancer.

Matrix Metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) is expressed by fibroblasts, keratinocytes, endothelial cells, monocytes and macrophages. MMP1 contains several distinct domains: a prodomain that is cleaved upon activation, a catalytic domain containing the zinc binding site, a short hinge region, and a carboxyl terminal (hemopexin like) domain. MMP-1 can degrade a broad range of substrates including types I, II, III, VII, VIII, and X collagens as well as casein, gelatin, alpha1 antitrypsin, myelin basic protein, L-Selectin, pro-TNF, IL1, IGFBP3, IGFBP5, pro-MMP2, and pro-MMP9. A significant role of MMP1 is the degradation of fibrillar collagens in extracellular matrix remodeling, characterized by the cleavage of the interstitial collagen triple helix into 3/4, 1/4 fragments. MMP1 may also be involved in enzyme cascades, cytokine regulation and cell surface molecule modulation.

ZBED1 Antibody: ZBED1, also known as DREF, is the human homolog of the Drosophila protein DREF, a transcriptional regulatory factor required for expression of genes involved in DNA replication and cell proliferation. RNA interference (RNAi) experiments targeting ZBED1 RNA resulted in the inhibition of S phase entry and reduction of histone H1 mRNA in HeLa cells, suggesting that ZBED1 also plays a role in cell proliferation in human cells. At least 22 ribosomal proteins (RPs) possess ZBED1 binding sites in their promoters; anti-ZBED1 RNAi also resulted in decreased RP gene expression. Immunoprecipitation analyses have shown that ZBED1 self-associates in vivo via a carboxyl-terminal hATC domain, and this self-association is required for nuclear localization and DNA binding.

Adenovirus-9 E4 Orf1 Antibody: The many different serotypes of human adenoviruses (Ad) are divided into six subgroups, of which all Ad subgroup A and B and two subgroup D Ads can elicit tumors in infected rodents. Unlike the Ads from subgroup A and B, the ones from subgroup D, Ad9 and Ad10 elicit estrogen-dependent mammary tumors as opposed to undifferentiated sarcomas. In the case of Ad9, its tumorigenicity is dependent on the product of the open reading frame (ORF) 1 of the early region 4 (E4). The tumorigenic potential of Ad9 E4 Orf1 depends on a carboxyl-terminal PDZ domain-binding motif that mediates interactions with several different membrane-associated cellular proteins such as MUPP1, PATJ, MAGI-1, ZO-2 and Dlg1. It has been suggested that Ad9 E4 Orf1 may have evolved from an ancestral cellular dUTP pyrophosphatase.

Ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase 1 (UCHL1) is also known as ubiquitin carboxyl esterase L1, ubiquitin thiolesterase, neuron-specific protein PGP9.5 and Park5. It was originally identified as a major component of the neuronal cytoplasm from 2-dimensional gel analysis of brain tissues, and was given the name PGP9.5. It was later found that ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase enzyme activity was associated with the PGP9.5 protein. The ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolases cleave ubiquitin from other molecules. Regulation of the ubiquitin pathway is very important and many disease states are associated with defects in this pathway. Genetic knockout of UCHL1 in mice results in a motor neuron degeneration similar to the spontaneous gracile axonal dystrophy (gad) mutant mice. Point mutations in the UCHL1 gene are associated with some forms of human Parkinson's disease. Since UCHL1 is heavily expressed in neurons, it is released in large amounts following injury or degeneration, so the detection of UCHL1 in CSF and other bodily fluids can be used as a biomarker.

Piperacillin is a semisynthetic, broad-spectrum ureidopenicillin antibiotic. It is derived from ampicillin. Piperacillin inhibits the last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to certain penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which results in cell lysis. Cell lysis is mediated by bacterial cell wall autolytic enzymes. Piperacillin may interfere with autolysin inhibitors.
It has been used in pharmacokinetic studies in order to optimize antimicrobial therapy in patients with sepsis. It is used to study piperacillin hypersensitivity reactions and to study multidrug-resistant organisms. T-Cell Intracellular Antigen-1 is a cytoplasmic granule-associated protein expressed in lymphocytes processing cytolytic potential. It is a member of an RNA-binding protein family and possesses nucleolytic activity against cytotoxic lymphocyte (CTL) target cells. It has been suggested that this protein may be involved in the induction of apoptosis as it preferentially recognises poly(A) homopolymers and induces DNA fragmentation in CTL targets. The major granule-associated species is a 15 kDa protein thought to be derived from the carboxyl terminus of the 40 kDa product by proteolytic processing. TIA-1 antibody labels cytotoxic T cells and natural killer cells (NK cells). It is also expressed in T-cell lymphoma, large granular lymphocyte (LGL) leukemia and hairy cell leukemia. TIA1 expression in T-cell malignancies may help in differentiating LGL leukemia (high expression) from T-cell lymphocytosis and other T-cell diseases (low expression). TIA1 may also be used to label tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in the study of immune response to malignancies.
