This MAb recognizes proteins of 19-22 kDa (reducing) and 38 kDa-44 kDa (non-reducing), identified as various isoforms of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor or Vascular Permeability Factor (VEGF/VPF). It is highly specific to VEGF, which is a homodimeric, disulfide-linked glycoprotein with a close homology to platelet derived growth factor (PDGF). There are multiple isoforms of VEGF containing 206-, 189-, 165-, and 121-amino acid residues. The smaller two isoforms, VEGF165 and VEGF121, are secreted proteins and act as diffusible agents, whereas the larger two remain cell associated. VEGF/VPF plays an important role in angiogenesis, which promotes tumor progression and metastasis.

TRIP6 Antibody: TRIP6 (Thyroid receptor interacting protein 6) is a zyxin-related focal adhesion molecule involved in cell motility and antiapoptotic responses. TRIP6 is predominantly expressed in kidney, liver and lung. It has three LIM domains, a PDZ-binding motif, a Crk SH2-binding motif and/or other protein interacting domains. TRIP6 regulates NF-kappa B activation and interacts with RICK and TRAF2, proteins that are involved in TNF signaling. TRIP6 antagonizes Fas-induced apoptosis and promotes Fas-mediated cell migration in apoptosis-resistant glioma cells via Src-dependent phosphorylation of TRIP6 at Tyr-55.

No reactivity has been observed with reactive B-cells. So a B-lineage population that co-expresses CD43 is highly likely to be a malignant lymphoma, especially a low-grade lymphoma, rather than a reactive B-cell population. When CD43 antibody is used in combination with anti-CD20, effective immunophenotyping of the lymphomas in formalin-fixed tissues can be obtained. Co-staining of a lymphoid infiltrate with anti-CD20 and anti-CD43 argues against a reactive process and favors a diagnosis of lymphoma.

Summary: This gene encodes a member of the p34Cdc2 protein kinase family. p34Cdc2 kinase family members are known to be essential for eukaryotic cell cycle control. This gene is in close proximity to CDC2L2, a nearly identical gene in the same chromosomal region. The gene loci including this gene, CDC2L2, as well as metalloprotease MMP21/22, consist of two identical, tandemly linked genomic regions which are thought to be a part of the larger region that has been duplicated. This gene and CDC2L2 were shown to be deleted or altered frequently in neuroblastoma with amplified MYCN genes. The protein kinase encoded by this gene could be cleaved by caspases and was demonstrated to play roles in cell apoptosis. Several alternatively spliced variants of this gene have been reported.

EMP-2 is a 167 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein that contains four-transmembrane domains and belongs to the GAS3/PMP22 (growth arrest-specific-3/peripheral myelin protein-22) family. Localized to lipid raft domains in the plasma membrane, EMP-2 regulates the expression of several target proteins and is necessary for blastocyst implantation in the uterine endometrium. Specifically, EMP-2 mediates blastocyst implantation by controlling the cell membrane expression of MHC and glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored proteins, as well as Integrins and caveolin-1. In adult tissues, EMP-2 is expressed in heart, lung, ovary and intestine, while fetal expression is highest in kidney, brain and liver. Overexpression of EMP-2 is associated with endometrial adenocarcinoma, suggesting a possible role for EMP-2 in tumorigenesis.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the platelet-derived growth factor family. The four members of this family are mitogenic factors for cells of mesenchymal origin and are characterized by a motif of eight cysteines. This gene product can exist either as a homodimer (PDGF-BB) or as a heterodimer with the platelet-derived growth factor alpha polypeptide (PDGF-AB), where the dimers are connected by disulfide bonds. Mutations in this gene are associated with meningioma. Reciprocal translocations between chromosomes 22 and 7, at sites where this gene and that for COL1A1 are located, are associated with a particular type of skin tumor called dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans resulting from unregulated expression of growth factor. The ABL1 protooncogene encodes a cytoplasmic and nuclear protein tyrosine kinase that has been implicated in processes of cell differentiation, cell division, cell adhesion, and stress response. Activity of c-Abl protein is negatively regulated by its SH3 domain, and deletion of the SH3 domain turns ABL1 into an oncogene. The t(9;22) translocation results in the head-to-tail fusion of the BCR (MIM:151410) and ABL1 genes present in many cases of chronic myelogeneous leukemia. The DNA-binding activity of the ubiquitously expressed ABL1 tyrosine kinase is regulated by CDC2-mediated phosphorylation, suggesting a cell cycle function for ABL1. The ABL1 gene is expressed as either a 6- or 7-kb mRNA transcript, with alternatively spliced first exons spliced to the common exons 2-11. [provided by RefSeq].
