TPPP (Tubulin polymerization-promoting protein), also known as p24 and p25, is a widely expressed 219 amino acid protein found in the perinuclear region of the cytoplasm. TPPP may form dimers and functions in polymerizing tubulin into double-walled tubules, polymorphic aggregates, or stabilized blocks. TPPP overexpression prevents formation of the mitotic spindle assembly and breakdown of the nuclear envelope. TPPP is phosphorylated by TPK II and is encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 5, which contains 181 million base pairs and comprises nearly 6% of the human genome.

CPOX is a 454 amino acid mitochondrial enzyme that is localized to the inner membrane space of erythrocytes. It participates in the sixth step of heme biosynthesis by catalyzing the formation of protoporphyrinogen IX from copropophyrinogen III. Mutations in the gene encoding CPOX are the cause of coproporphyria, an autosomal dominant disease characterized by skin photosensitivity and neurological disturbances. Symptoms are often experienced as attacks, which include severe abdominal and nerve pain. People affected by coproporphyria overexcrete copropophyrinogen III in feces and urine and the enzymatic activity of CPOX is found to be approximately half that of normal, leading to a decrease in overall heme synthesis. There is no cure for coproporphyria, but preventative treatment to relieve symptoms usually involves dietary changes and avoidance of drugs and alcohol.

The NFkB complex is expressed in numerous cell types and functions as a central activator of genes involved in inflammation and immune function. The protein encoded by this gene can function as both a transcriptional activator or repressor depending on its dimerization partner. The p100 full-length protein is co-translationally processed into a p52 active form. Chromosomal rearrangements and translocations of this locus have been observed in B cell lymphomas, some of which may result in the formation of fusion proteins. ALX1 is a 326 amino acid protein specific to cervix and cartilage tissues. As well as having a homeobox domain, ALX1 also contains an OAR domain, which has been suggested to be important for DNA binding or protein-protein interactions and transactivation. First characterized from a rat chondrosarcoma tumor cell line, ALX1 is a homeobox transcription factor that regulates downstream target genes and has specifically shown to act as a transcriptional repressor for rat prolactin in vivo. Homozygous ALX1 deficient mice are born with acrania and meroanencephaly, suggesting ALX1 function in the development of the neural tube. It has also been suggested that ALX1 cooperates with ALX4 in limb development and craniofacial bone formation.

Fibrinogen is the main protein of blood coagulation system. It is a large protein and it consists of two identical subunits that contain three polypeptide chains: alpha, beta and gamma. All chains are connected with each other by a number of disulfide bonds. Fibrinopeptides A (1 to 16 amino acids) and B (1 to 17 amino acids) are released by thrombin from the N terminal parts of alpha and beta chains, respectively. In this way fibrinogen is converted into fibrin, which by means of polymerization forms a fibrin clot. Fibrinogen clotting underlies pathogenesis of MI, thromboembolism and thromboses of arteries and veins, since fibrin is the main substrate for thrombus formation. Fibrinogen activation is also involved in pathogenesis of inflammation, tumor growth and many other diseases.
