Beschreibung:
This antibody recognizes a cell surface glycoprotein of 95/115/135 kDa (depending upon the extent of glycosylation), identified as CD43. 70-90% of T-cell lymphomas and from 22-37% of B-cell lymphomas express CD43. No reactivity has been observed with reactive B-cells. So a B-lineage population that co-expresses CD43 is highly likely to be a malignant lymphoma, especially a low-grade lymphoma, rather than a reactive B-cell population. When CD43 antibody is used in combination with anti-CD20, effective immunophenotyping of the lymphomas in formalin-fixed tissues can be obtained. Co-staining of a lymphoid infiltrate with anti-CD20 and anti-CD43 argues against a reactive process and favors a diagnosis of lymphoma.

The BNI3 antibody is specific for human CD152, commonly known as CTLA-4, a 33 t 37 kDa protein expressed as a homodimer on the surface of activated T and B cells, and on thymocytes. CTLA-4 is structurally similar, yet functionally disparate, to the T cell co-stimulatory molecule CD28. Both CTLA-4 and CD28 interact with the co-stimulatory molecules CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2) on antigen-presenting cells, with CTLA-4 displaying a higher avidity than CD28. While CD28 typically delivers a potent co-stimulatory signal in support of T cell activation, CTLA-4 appears to act as a negative regulator of T cell activation and may contribute to the suppressor function of Treg cells.

UCMA is a 138 amino acid secreted protein that is highly expressed in resting chrondrocytes in developing long bones and is thought to function in the early phase of chrondrocyte differentiation. A furin-like protease processes UCMA into an N-terminal 37 amino acid peptide and a C-terminal 74 amino acid peptide, which is referred to as Unique cartilage matrix-associated protein C-terminal fragment (Ucma-C). Introduction of recombinant Ucma-C interferes with osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells, MC3T3-E1 preosteoblasts and primary osteoblasts. This suggests that Ucma may be involved in the negative regulation of osteogenic differentiation of osteochondrogenic precursor cells at the cartilage-bone interface and in peripheral zones of fetal cartilage.

Beschreibung:
Protein S (PROS) is a vitamin K-dependent plasma protein that inhibits blood clotting by serving as a cofactor for activated protein C (APC) and facilitates clearance of early apoptotic cells. In the plasma, circulating Protein S becomes inactive upon complexing with C4b-binding protein (C4BP); 60-70% of Protein S circulates in complex with C4BP. Calcium-dependent association of C4BP-Protein S with apoptotic cells influences the regulation of complement activation. Protein S has APC-independent anticoagulant activity through direct inhibition of prothrombin activation via interactions with Factor X A, Factor V A and phospholipids. Autosomal dominant Protein S deficiency (levels 15 to 37% of normal) correlates with severe recurrent venous thrombosis.
