DIP2A, also known as DIP2, is a 1571 amino acid nuclear protein. It is one of three human homologs (DIP2A, DIP2B and DIP2C) of the Drosophila dip2 (disconnected-interacting protein 2) protein. In Drosophila, dip2 interacts with disco, a protein required for neuronal connections in the visual systems of larvae and adults. The closest vertebrate homologs to disco are the basonuclin genes. In mice, DIP2 homologs show restricted expression to the brain. This suggests that, similar to the function of Drosophila dip2, vertebrate DIP2 homologs may play a role in the development of the nervous system. Expressed ubiquitously with highest expression in the brain, DIP2A is thought to function in signaling throughout the central nervous system by providing positional clues for axon patterning and pathfinding. Four isoforms of DIP2A exist due to alternative splicing events.

In addition to GPCR2037, Galanin mediates its effects through receptor subtypes GALR1, 2 and 3. Galanin ligand exerts anxiolytic actions via GALR receptors under conditions of high stress. Recognizes a protein of 210-220 kDa, which is identified as the complement receptor 1 (CR1)/CD35. This MAb is specific for a site in CR1 that is distal from the C3b-binding site, so that it is unable to block CR1 activity. This MAb is highly specific to CR1 and shows no cross-reaction with CR2. The primary function of CR1 is to serve as the cellular receptor for C3b and C4b, the most important components of the complement system leading to clearance of foreign macromolecules. The Knops blood group system is a system of antigens located on this protein. Follicular dendritic cells (FDC) are restricted to the B-cell regions of secondary lymphoid follicles. They are CD21 /CD35 /CD1a-. This MAb labels follicular dendritic cells and follicular dendritic cell sarcoma.
