Beschreibung:   PCB (Pyruvate carboxylase) requires biotin and ATP to catalyse the carboxylation of pyruvate to oxaloacetate. The active enzyme is a homotetramer arranged in a tetrahedron which is located exclusively in the mitochondrial matrix. PCB is involved in gluconeogenesis, lipogenesis, insulin secretion and synthesis of the neurotransmitter glutamate. Mutations in this gene have been associated with pyruvate carboxylase deficiency. Alternatively spliced transcript variants with different 5' UTRs, but encoding the same protein, have been found for this gene.

Beschreibung:   RNF113A is a novel gene whose function cannot directly be inferred from it's sequence analysis. Ring finger proteins have a role in signalling the destruction of a range of heterologous protein substrates. They are small zinc binding domains present within arrays of larger, functionally distinct proteins, often close to the amino or carboxyl termini. RNF113A is a ubiquitously expressed protein that contains a RING type zinc finger and a C3H1 type zinc finger.

Beschreibung:   The placental-derived growth factor (PIGF) is a dimeric glycoprotein showing a high degree of sequence similarity to the vascular endothelial growth factor. Alternative splicing of the PIGF primary transcript gives rise to two forms, named PIGF-1 and PIGF-2, which differ only in the insertion of a highly basic 21-amino acid stretch at the carboxyl end. The presence of the PIGF mRNA in thyroid, placenta, lung, and goiter has indicated the tissues where this factor functions. However, the role of PIGF in vascular development has not yet been clearly established.

Beschreibung:   Src (also known as pp60src) is a non receptor Tyrosine Kinase involved in signal transduction in many biological systems and implicated in the development of human tumors. There are two critical phosphorylation sites of tyrosine on Src, tyrosine 418 and tyrosine 529 (referring to human Src sequence). The tyrosine 418 is located in the catalytic domain and is one of the autophosphorylation sites. Full catalytic activity of Src requires phosphorylation of tyrosine 418. The tyrosine 529 is located near the carboxyl terminus of Src and acts as a negative regulator, in that Src is held in the inactive form through an intramolecular interaction between the SH2 domain and the carboxyl terminus when tyrosine 529 is phosphorylated by Csk. This conformation blocks phosphorylation of tyrosine 418 at the catalytic domain, thereby preventing Src activation. When tyrosine 529 is dephosphorylated, tyrosine 418 can be maximally phosphorylated and Src becomes active. Src is a proto oncogene that may play a role in the regulation of embryonic development and cell growth. Mutations in this gene could be involved in the malignant progression of colon cancer. Immunogen: Synthetic peptide (Human) derived from the region of Src that contains tyrosine 529, based on the human sequence. The sequence is conserved in mouse (tyrosine 534), chicken (tyrosine 527) and frog (tyrosine 525).

Beschreibung:   FGL2 is a secreted protein that is similar to the beta- and gamma-chains of fibrinogen. The carboxyl-terminus of the encoded protein consists of the fibrinogen-related domains (FRED). The encoded protein forms a tetrameric complex which is stabilized by interchain disulfide bonds. It may play a role in physiologic functions at mucosal sites. It is constitutively expressed in cytotoxic T-cells. Lack of expression in other lymphoid- and nonlymphoid-derived cell lines suggested that expression of FGL2 may be restricted to lymphocytes. FGL2 is induced via a mechanism involving IFNG and components of the IFNG signaling pathway, including STAT1 and IRF1.
