The XMG1.2 is a neutralizing antibody that binds with the mouse Interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) protein, a 15 to 17 kDa cytokine with significant antibacterial, antiviral, and antitumoral properties. When secreted by natural killer cells and by natural killer T lymphocytes, it regulates the immune response and supports adaptive immunity when produced by Th1 or CD8+ T lymphocytes. IFN-gamma plays an important role in the activation, the growth, and the differentiation of the macrophages, B and T lymphocytes, and natural killer cells. It interacts synergically with other cytokines, such as TNF-alpha, to inhibit proliferation of normal and transformed cells. IFN- gamma is the primary cytokine that defines Th-1 cells.The biological activity of IFN-gamma is not affected by glycosylation.

This protein together with PCBP-1 also functions as translational coactivators of poliovirus RNA via a sequence-specific interaction with stem-loop IV of the IRES and promote poliovirus RNA replication by binding to its 5'-terminal cloverleaf structure. It has also been implicated in translational control of the 15-lipoxygenase mRNA, human Papillomavirus type 16 L2 mRNA, and hepatitis A virus RNA. The protein is also suggested to play a part in formation of a sequence-specific alpha-globin mRNP complex which is associated with alpha-globin mRNA stability. This gene and PCBP-1 has paralogues PCBP3 and PCBP4 which is thought to arose as a result of duplication events of entire genes.The protein encoded by this gene appears to be multifunctional. This gene and PCBP-1 has paralogues PCBP3 and PCBP4 which is thought to arose as a result of duplication events of entire genes. It also has two processed pseudogenes PCBP2P1 and PCBP2P2. There are presently two alternatively spliced transcript variants described for this gene.

Interleukin 2 (IL 2), also termed T-cell growth factor, is a member of the cytokine family which includes IL-4, IL-7, IL-9, IL-15 and IL-21. Each member of this family has a four alpha helix bundle. IL-2 signals through the IL-2 receptor, a complex consisting of tree subunits, termed alpha, beta and gamma. The IL-2 R gamma is shared by cytokine receptors of all members of cytokine family. Mature mouse IL2 shares 56% and 73% aa sequence identity with human and rat IL2, respectively. IL-2 is produced by CD4+ T cell, CD8+ T cells, gamma delta T cells, B cells, dendritic cells and eosinophils, and plays a vital role in key function of the immune system, tolerance and immunity, primarily via its potent stimulatory activity for T cells.Thus, IL2 may be a key cytokine in the natural suppression of autoimmunity.

Recognises an oncofetal antigen of 220 kDa, identified as a Tumor-associated glycoprotein (TAG-72) with properties of a mucin. This mAb defines the mucin-carried sialylated-Tn epitope. TAG72 is usually expressed by adenocarcinomas, but is negative in mesotheliomas. Studies have reported that this antibody has 80% sensitivity and 93% specificity for pulmonary adenocarcinoma. Therefore, TAG72 is a useful marker to distinguish between mesothelioma and adenocarcinoma. However, false positive reactions can occur so results must be interpreted with the utmost caution. This antibody may be useful in the differentiation of non-small cell carcinomas from small cell carcinomas of the lung. The combined use of anti-TAG72 and anti-GCDFP-15 is valuable in the diagnosis of apocrine carcinoma.

TNF ligand-related molecule 1 is an anti-angiogenic cytokine that is also called Tumor necrosis factor superfamily, member 15 (TNFSF15) and Vascular endothelial growth inhibitor (VEGI/VEGI192A). This protein is abundantly expressed in endothelial cells, but is not expressed in either B or T cells. The expression of this protein is inducible by TNF and IL-1 alpha. This cytokine is a ligand for receptor TNFRSF25 and decoy receptor TNFRSF21/DR6. It can activate NF-kappaB and MAP kinases, and acts as an autocrine factor to induce apoptosis in endothelial cells. This cytokine is also found to inhibit endothelial cell proliferation, and thus may function as an angiogenesis inhibitor. Reduced expression of TL1A has been reported as a marker of poor prognosis in breast cancer.

BKV Peptide pool is a lyophilised mixture of 171 peptides from the Large T (LT) antigen of BK polyomavirus (BKV), and consists of 15-mer peptides with 11-amino-acid overlaps that cover amino acids 1 to 695 on LT antigen. LT antigen is an early viral protein (Low <i>et al.</i>) that contributes to the transformation and maintenance of host cells (Nakshatri <i>et al.</i>). It has been found to bind to a subset of tumor suppressor proteins (Harris <i>et al.</i>), and its co-expression with p53 has been observed in polyomavirus-associated nephropathy (Seemayer <i>et al.</i>). Viral peptide pools are useful for a broad range of applications, including vaccine development, immunological research, and diagnostic assay development.
