RNF32 (RING finger protein 32), also known as HSD15 or FKSG33, is a 362 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that contains one IQ domain and two RING-type zinc fingers. Highly expressed in testis with lower expression levels in ovary tissue, RNF32 is thought to play a role in spermatogenesis, specifically contributing to the growth and maturation of round spermatids. Six isoforms of RNF32 exist due to alternative splicing events.

In response to DNA damage, ZDHHC20, which exists as multiple alternatively spliced isoforms, may be phosphorylated by ATM or ATR. Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients with an inherited form of the disease carry mutations in the presenilin proteins (PSEN1; PSEN2) or in the amyloid precursor protein (APP). These disease-linked mutations result in increased production of the longer form of amyloid-beta (main component of amyloid deposits found in AD brains). Presenilins are postulated to regulate APP processing through their effects on gamma-secretase, an enzyme that cleaves APP. Also, it is thought that the presenilins are involved in the cleavage of the Notch receptor, such that they either directly regulate gamma-secretase activity or themselves are protease enzymes.
