The inherited blindness associated protein, aryl hydrocarbon receptor interacting protein-like 1 (AIPL1), interacts with the cell cycle regulator protein NUB1. AIPL1 is crucial for protein folding and stabilization, as well as for protein trafficking. It localizes to the nucleus or cytoplasm and is highly expressed in the pineal gland and the retina. In the retina, AIPL1 is expressed in both developing cone and rod photoreceptors, but it is restricted to rod photoreceptors in the adult human retina. Defects in the gene encoding for AIPL1 can cause Leber congenital amaurosis type IV, an early-onset, inherited autosomal recessive disorder that results in childhood blindness.

Recognizes an N-glycosylated glycoprotein of 120 kDa with intra-chain disulfide bonds, identified as CD50 or ICAM-3 (WS: IV & V). Its epitope localizes in the D2 extracellular domain and is resistant to neuraminidase and proteases. CD50 is the major ligand for LFA-1 (CD11a/CD18) and may have signalling role to increase adhesion. It is expressed on thymocytes and T lymphocytes and is resistant to treatment with phosphatidylinositol (PI) phospholipase C. This MAb inhibits primary mixed lymphocyte culture (MLC) but not secondary MLC, cytotoxicity or proliferation induced by mitogens. It blocks binding of NK1-L16 stimulated T cells to L cells expressing CD50. This MAb is excellent for staining of formalin/paraffin tissues.

This antibody recognizes a ~90-95 kDa protein which is identified as cell surface transferrin receptor (CD71), a disulfide-bonded homodimeric glycoprotein of 180-190 kDa (Workshop IV). This MAb is highly specific to CD71 and shows no cross-reaction with other related proteins. Ligand for transferrin receptor is the serum iron transport protein, transferrin. This receptor is broadly distributed in carcinomas, sarcomas, leukemias, and lymphomas. CD71/Transferrin receptor has been reported to be associated with cell proliferation in both normal and neoplastic tissues and useful in predicting clinical behavior or response to therapy in a number of malignancies including breast cancer.

Phosphatidylinositol-glycan-specific phospholipase D (GPI-PLD) is a high-density lipoprotein-associated protein found on chromosome 6p22 that specifically hydrolyses the inositol phosphate linkage in proteins anchored by phosphatidylinositol-glycans (PI-Gs). GPI-PLD is found in serum, liver, cerebrospinal fluid and in milk. The majority of plasma GPI-PLD appears to be specifically associated with a small, discrete and minor fraction of lipoproteins containing apoA-I and apoA-IV. Serum GPI-PLD activity is reduced over 75% in systemic inflammatory response syndrome and the downregulation of GPI-PLD could play an important role in the control of proinflammatory responses.

A member of the GTP-binding superfamily and the immuno-associated nucleotide (IAN) subfamily, GIMAP5 plays a role in T-cell survival and mitochondrial integrity. GIMAP5 is highly expressed in CD4 and CD8-positive T-cells and monocytes, as well as B-lymphocyte-derived neoplasms.
