There are three SorCS genes that have diverse, partially overlapping functions in the central nervous system. In the developing and mature central nervous system, SorCS1, SorCS2 and SorCS3 genes are expressed in a combinatorial, non-overlapping pattern. SorCS proteins show homology to the mosaic receptor SorLA and the neurotensin receptor sortilin, based on a common VPS10 domain, which is the hallmark of the SorCS receptor family. SorCS2 (sortilin-related VPS10 domain containing receptor 2) is a 1,150 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein that is highly expressed in brain and kidney. Containing six BNR repeats and a single PKD domain, SorCS2 is encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 4, which encodes nearly 6% of the human genome and has the largest gene deserts (regions of the genome with no protein encoding genes) of all of the human chromosomes.

Serotonin mediates its effects through several of G protein coupled receptors, designated 5-HT receptors or alternatively SR receptors. SR-3 is a ligand-gated ion channel, whereas all other known serotonin receptor subtypes are G protein-coupled receptors. SR-4 mediates widespread effects in central and peripheral nervous systems. SR-7 belongs to the superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors. The gene which encodes SR-7 maps to human chromosome 10q21-q24.

Giant axonal neuropathy, a nervous system disorder characterized by increasing malfunction with growth, and the rare disorder Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome, characterized by mental retardation and predisposition to tumor growth and white blood cell neoplasias, are associated with chromosome 16. Crohn's disease, a gastrointestinal inflammatory condition, and systemic lupus erythematosis are also associated with chromosome 16.

Histosec® pastilles (without DMSO) is an embedding medium for histology of samples of human origin. It is a paraffin enriched with polymers, also available with the addition of DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide). DMSO increases the rate of penetration of paraffin and provides additional preservation of the tissue structures. Its melting range is between 56 - 58 °C and, within this range any specimen can be processed without fear of damage irrespective of the method used.
In most clinical laboratories the paraffinization is performed with an automated embedding system and is performed directly after the histoprocessing.

BCL2 is an integral outer mitochondrial membrane protein that blocks the apoptotic death of some cells such as lymphocytes. Constitutive expression of BCL2, such as in the case of translocation of BCL2 to Ig heavy chain locus, is thought to be the cause of follicular lymphoma. Two transcript variants (alpha and beta) produced by alternate splicing, differ in their C-terminal ends. BCL2 suppresses apoptosis in a variety of cell systems including factor-dependent lymphohematopoietic and neural cells. It regulates cell death by controlling the mitochondrial membrane permeability. It appears to function in a feedback loop system with caspases. BCL2 inhibits caspase activity either by preventing the release of cytochrome c from the mitochondria and/or by binding to the apoptosis-activating factor (APAF1). It can form homodimers, and heterodimers with BAX, BAD, BAK and BclX(L). Heterodimerization with BAX requires intact BH1 and BH2 domains, and is necessary for anti-apoptotic activity.

ERMAP is a single-pass type one membrane protein that belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. Expressed in cord blood, fetal liver and adult bone marrow, ERMAP is thought to function as a cell adhesion molecule in erythroid cells and is responsible for expression of the Scianna/Radin (Sc/Rd) blood group antigen system. The Sc/Rd system is comprised of seven antigens that are present on the surface of red blood cells and have a variety of functions ranging from protein transport to cell adhesion. These seven blood antigens can differ in their expression within a population and may sometimes differ between mother and child. A fetus expressing different blood antigens than its mother may cause the mother to produce against the fetal blood. This condition is known as hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN) and is characterized by jaundice, anemia and in some cases, infant death.

Für Produkte pflanzlichen und tierischen Ursprungs gilt jedoch gemäß Verordnung (EU) 2021/1531 ein standardmäßiger Rückstandshöchstgehalt (MRL) von 0,01 bis 2 mg/kg. Ethirimol muss im mehrjährigen Kontrollprogramm für Pestizidrückstände (MACP) überwacht werden, das innerhalb der EU und der EFTA in/auf Produkten pflanzlichen Ursprungs durchgeführt wird.
