Recognizes a protein of 40 kDa, identified as CD7 (also known as gp40, Leu9). CD7 is a member of the immunoglobulin gene superfamily. Its N-terminal amino acids 1-107 are highly homologous to Ig kappa-L chains whereas the carboxyl-terminal region of the extracellular domain is proline-rich and has been postulated to form a stalk from which the Ig domain projects. CD7 is expressed on the majority of immature and mature T-lymphocytes, and T cell leukemia. It is also found on natural killer cells, a small subpopulation of normal B cells and on malignant B cells. Cross-linking surface CD7 positively modulates T cell and NK cell activity as measured by calcium fluxes, expression of adhesion molecules, cytokine secretion and proliferation. CD7 associates directly with phosphoinositol 3'-kinase. CD7 ligation induces production of D-3 phosphoinositides and tyrosine phosphorylation.

ALDH1A1, also designated retinal dehydrogenase 1 (RalDH1 or RALDH1), aldehyde dehydrogenase family 1 member A1, aldehyde dehydrogenase cytosolic, ALDHII, ALDH-E1 or ALDH E1, is a retinal dehydrogenase that participates in the biosynthesis of retinoic acid (RA). There are two major liver isoforms of ALDH1 that can localize to cytosolic or mitochondrial space. The ALDH1A2 (RALDH2, RALDH2-T) gene produces three different transcripts and also catalyzes the synthesis of RA from retinaldehyde. ALDH1A3 (ALDH6, RALDH3, ALDH1A6) is a 37 kb gene that consists of 13 exons and produces a major transcript of approximately 3.5 kb most abundant in salivary gland, stomach and kidney. ALDH3A1 (stomach type, ALDH3, ALDHIII) forms a cytoplasmic homodimer that preferentially oxidizes aromatic aldehyde substrates. ALDH genes upregulate as a part of the oxidative stress response, and appear to be abundant in certain tumors that have an accelerated metabolism toward chemotherapy agents.

Belonging to the glycosyltransferase 14 family, GCNT7, also known as Beta-1,3-galactosyl-O-glycosyl-glycoprotein beta-1,6-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase 7, is a 430 amino acid glycosyltransferase that is localized to the Golgi apparatus. Other members of this family include GCNT1, GCNT2, GCNT3, GCNT4 and GCNT6. GCNT1 has been shown to play an important regulatory role in the biosynthesis of mucin-type O-glycans, which serve as ligands in cell adhesion. Specifically, GCNT1 expression in leukocytes regulates the synthesis of core 2 O-glycans that carry sialyl-Lewis x (sLex) oligosaccharides, which confer high affinity binding to Selectin proteins. Since downregulation of Selectin ligand expression has been shown to inhibit tissue infiltration, glycosyltransferase 14 family members represent potential drug targets for the treatment of inflammatory disorders and other pathologies involving Selectin proteins.

KLHL13 (kelch like 13), also known as BKLHD2 (BTB and kelch domain containing protein 2), is a 604 amino acid protein that contains six Kelch repeats and one BTB/POZ domain. Expressed predominantly in brain, KLHL13 is believed to play a role in protein ubiquitination and may function as a substrate specific adapter of an E3 ubiquitin protein ligase complex. E3 ligases accept a ubiquitin residue from an E2 ubiquitin conjugating enzyme and immediately transfer that residue to a protein that is targeted for degradation. Specifically, KLHL13 interacts with KLHL9 and CUL3, a member of the cullin family of mediators that participate in the selective targeting of proteins for ubiquitin mediated proteolysis. Via its BTB and C terminal Kelch (BACK) motif, KLHL13 is thought to play a role in spatially orientating substrates in the CUL3 ligase.
