Natural Cytotoxicity Triggering Receptor 3 (NCR3) along with NKp44 and NKp46 constitute a group of receptors termed “Natural Cytotoxicity Receptors”. They play a major role in triggering NK-mediated killing of most tumour cells lines. NKp30 is a type I transmembrane protein having a single extracellular V-like immunoglobulin domain. NKp30 is selectively expressed both in resting and activated human NK cells. In addition, NKp30 is also involved in NK-mediated induction of dendritic cell (DC) maturation. It has been demonstrated that NK cell activation signalling specifically induces lytic activity against several tumour cell types and synthesis of new NF-κB dependent proteins during the initiation of cytotoxicity.

PVALB is structurally and functionally similar to calmodulin and troponin C, it can bind two calcium ions. Parvalbumin is thought to be involved in relaxation after contraction in muscle. Parvalbumin is expressed in a specific population of GABAergic interneurons, which are believed to have a role in maintaining the balance between excitation and inhibition in the cortex as well as the hippocampus.

Interleukin-1 Receptor Accessory Protein (IL-1RAcP) is a member of the interleukin-1 receptor family. It contains three Ig-like C2-type domains in the extracellular region and a long cytoplasmic domain implicated in signal transduction. IL-1RAcP acts as a non-ligand binding accessory component of the receptors for IL1 alpha, IL1 beta and IL33. IL-1RAcP mediates interleukin-1-dependent activation of NF-kappa-B. It is part of the membrane-bound form of the IL-1 receptor. IL-1 RAcP takes part in the Signaling ways by the formation of a ternary complex containing IL1R1, TOLLIP, MYD88, and IRAK1 or IRAK2. In addition, IL-1RAcP modulates the response to interleukins by associating with soluble IL1R1 and enhancing interleukin-binding to the decoy receptor.

Human and mouseIL13Rα1 share 76% aa sequence identity. IL13RA1 is a subunit of the interleukin 13 receptor. This subunit forms a receptor complex with IL4 receptor alpha, a subunit shared by IL13 and IL4 receptors. This subunit serves as a primary IL13-binding subunit of the IL13 receptor, and may also be a component of IL4 receptors. This protein has been shown to bind tyrosine kinase TYK2, and thus may mediate the signaling processes that lead to the activation of JAK1, STAT3 and STAT6 induced by IL13 and IL4.

Human Chemokine (C-X-C motif) Ligand 4 (CXCL4) is expressed in megakaryocytes and stored in the alpha-granules of platelets. CXCL4 contains several heparin-binding sites at the C-terminal region and binds heparin with high affinity. The active CXCL4 protein is a tetramer. Human and mouse CXCL4 share 64% sequence identity. CXCL4 is chemotactic for neutrophils, fibroblasts and monocytes and plays a critical role in inflammation and wound repair. CXCL4 functions via a splice variant of the chemokine receptor CXCR3, known as CXCR3B. The major physiologic role of CXCL4 appears to be neutralisation of heparin-like molecules on the endothelial surface of blood vessels, thereby inhibiting local antithrombin III activity and promoting coagulation. In contrast to other CXC chemokines, CXCL4 lacks chemotactic activity for polymorphonuclear granulocytes.

FAM19A4 is a secreted, 12 kDa member of the FAM19/TAFA family of chemokine-like proteins. Like other members of the FAM19/TAFA family, with the exception of TAFA5, mature FAM19A4 contains 10 regularly spaced cysteine residues. The FAM19A4 proteins are predominantly expressed in specific regions of the brain and the biological functions of FAM19A4 family members remain to be determined, but there are a few tentative hypotheses. First, FAM19A4 may modulate immune responses in the CNS by functioning as brain specific chemokines, and may act with other chemokines to optimize the recruitment and activity of immune cells in the CNS. Second, FAM19A4 may represent a novel class of neurokines that act as regulators of immune nervous cells. And third, FAM19A4 may control axonal sprouting following brain injury.

Ferritin heavy polypeptide 1(FTH1), is a ubiquitous intracellular protein which stores iron in a soluble, non-toxic, readily available form. FTH1 has ferroxidase activity and is important for iron homeostasis. Iron is taken up in the ferrous form and deposited as ferric hydroxides after oxidation. Ferritin is composed of 24 subunits of the light and heavy ferritin chains. It plays a role in delivery of iron to cells and mediates iron uptake in capsule cells of the developing kidney. Variation of ferritin subunit composition may affect iron absorption and release in different tissues. Deficiency of ferritin proteins may cause several neurodegenerative diseases.
