In plant cells, the vacuole functions as a major calcium store. Although a calmodulin-regulated Ca2+-ATPase (ACA4) is known to be present in prevacuolar compartments, the presence of an ACA-type Ca2+-ATPase in the mature vacuole of a plant cell has not been verified. Here we provide evidence that ACA11 localizes to the vacuole membrane. ACA11 tagged with GFP was expressed in stable transgenic plants, and visualized in root cells and protoplasts by confocal microscopy. A Ca2+-ATPase function for ACA11 was confirmed by complementation of yeast mutants.

Ethirimol ist das Ethylaminoisomer von Dimethirimol, das zu einer Gruppe von Pyrimidinfungiziden gehört. Dieses systemische Fungizid wirkt durch Hemmung der Nukleinsäuresynthese und wird als Saatgutbehandlung zur Bekämpfung von Mehltau in Sommergerste und Weizen eingesetzt. Ethirimol ist gemäß Verordnung (EG) Nr. 1107/2009 nicht zur Verwendung in der Europäischen Union (EU) zugelassen. Für Produkte pflanzlichen und tierischen Ursprungs gilt jedoch gemäß Verordnung (EU) 2021/1531 ein standardmäßiger Rückstandshöchstgehalt (MRL) von 0,01 bis 2 mg/kg. Ethirimol muss im mehrjährigen Kontrollprogramm für Pestizidrückstände (MACP) überwacht werden, das innerhalb der EU und der EFTA in/auf Produkten pflanzlichen Ursprungs durchgeführt wird.
