Bcl-2-Like Protein 1 (BCL2L1) is a member of the Bcl-2 family. BCL2L1 is expressed at high levels in cells that undergo a high rate of turnover, such as developing lymphocytes. BCL2L1 is a mitochondrial membrane protein. BCL2L1 contains four motifs, BH1, BH2 and BH4. The BH4 motif is required for anti-apoptotic activity. The BH1 and BH2 motifs are required for both heterodimerization with other Bcl-2 family members and for repression of cell death. BCL2L1 regulates cell death by blocking the voltage-dependent anion channnel (VDAC) and preventing the release of the caspase activator, CYC1, from the mitochondrial membrane. In addition, BCL2L1 promotes apoptosis.

RTN4RL2 Antibody: Reticulon 4 receptor-like 2 (RTN4RL2), also known as NgR2and NgRH1, is a 60 kDa glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored protein that is expressed primarily in the brain. It contains eight leucine-rich repeats that are flanked by cysteine-rich sequences at both the N- and C-termini. The membrane anchored RTN4RL2 can be solubilized through the action of phospholipase or an unidentified MTMMP to generate a 46 kDa soluble receptor. It has been suggested that RTN4RL2 may play a role in regulating axonal regeneration and plasticity in the adult central nervous system.

BACE2 Antibody: Accumulation of the amyloid-beta (Abeta) plaque in the cerebral cortex is a critical event in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. Abeta peptide is generated by proteolytic cleavage of the beta-amyloid protein precursor (APP) at beta- and gamma-sites by proteases. The long-sought beta-secretase was recently identified by several groups independently and designated beta-site APP cleaving enzyme (BACE) and aspartyl protease 2 (Asp2). A BACE homolog was recently cloned and designated BACE2, Asp1, DRAP (for Down region aspartic protease), and memapsin 1. BACE2 also cleaves APP at beta-site and at a different site within Abeta. BACE2 locates on chromosome 21q22.3, the so-called ‘Down critical region', suggesting that BACE2 and Abeta may also contribute to the pathogenesis of Down syndrome.
