Receptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-3 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the ERBB3 gene. This gene encodes a member of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) family of receptor tyrosine kinases. ERBB3 belongs to the protein kinase superfamily,tyr protein kinase family and EGF receptor subfamily.It contains 1 protein kinase domain and it is expressed in Epithelial tissues and brain. This membrane-bound protein has a neuregulin binding domain but not an active kinase domain. It therefore can bind this ligand but not convey the signal into the cell through protein phosphorylation. However, it does form heterodimers with other EGF receptor family members which do have kinase activity.

erpin F1 (SERPINF1) is also known as Pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF), Cell proliferation-inducing gene 35 protein (PIG35). Serpin F1 belongs to the serpin family. Serpin F1 is expressed in quiescent cells. PEDF has a variety of functions including antiangiogenic, antitumorigenic, and neurotrophic properties. Endothelial cell migration is inhibited by SERPINF1/ PEDF. PEDF / SERPINF1 suppresses retinal neovascularization and endothelial cell proliferation. PEDF is also responsible for apoptosis of endothelial cells either through the p38 MAPK pathway or through the FAS/FASL pathway. PEDF also displays neurotrophic functions.

They are the largest and most diverse family of serine protease inhibitors which are involved in a number of fundamental biological processes such as blood coagulation, complement activation, fibrinolysis, angiogenesis, inflammation and tumor suppression and are expressed in a cell-specific manner. Serpin E1 is a secreted protein which belongs to the Serpin family. Serpin E1 acts as 'bait' for tissue plasminogen activator, urokinase, and protein C. Its rapid interaction with TPA may function as a major control point in the regulation of fibrinolysis. Defects in SERPINE1 are characterized by abnormal bleeding due to Serpin E1 defect in the plasma. High concentrations of Serpin E1 have been associated with thrombophilia which is an autosomal dominant disorder in which affected individuals are prone to develop serious spontaneous thrombosis.
